Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup
2029 Vanesta Pl Unit 8, Manhattan, KS 66503, USA
(785) 246-1852I had a sewer backup. The guy who came was kind and courteous. He was done in about an hour.
7 months agoWe had a toilet backing up. Contacted two other plumbing companies that clear sewer lines and neither returned my calls. Called Roto-Rooter and they had a man at the house the same day. James was very professional and courteous. He laid out the process, cost, and time frame for my approval before starting the work and completed it all according to the plan. I will certainly use them again if needed!
2 years agoI called them because my hot water tank was leaking. I had called a few companies and they keep sayin Monday since it was Friday. And the other companies was giving to long of a eta. They told me they would be out from 10am to 12pm. The called me at 9am and said they will heading my way. I was shocked. They made it to my house at 10am.. I was shocked at how fast they got it done. They let me know that whoever installed my water tank turned it up too high and they turnt it down. And if I wanted they can put it back. I told them no. They said that's the reason for the leak. They tighten then hose on the water take because it was loose. I was extremely happy about how fast they were and how great of a job they did. They let me know about the warranty I had on the work they had did. Which I'm grateful for. Will definitely be using this company again.
1 year agoDR Plumbing Heating & Air inc.
2757 Rory Rd, Manhattan, KS 66502, USA
(785) 320-7527We had an emergency with our plumbing, the on call technician came out and even though our problem was bigger than he could fix at the moment he still stayed for 2.5 hours to fix what he could!!
6 months agoDR plumbing was hired for one job and was given an opportunity to make an estimate for a second job. The first job entailed 14.5 hours of on site work. Because of the complexity of the second job and their (Claytonβs) concerns as to whether he could do it, some evaluations and calculations needed to be done. Another plumber was chosen because there was no question he could do the job. The bill I received from Clayton included an 8-hr day of administration at $150 per hour and $1000 for two drawings created to display a design. I have included a copy of one of the two draws. This was created in his truck showing his thumb. I received this $500 drawing via txt. I did not receive the second drawing. This bid job was completed in 20 hours by the other plumber. ASK for an estimate. And ask if putting the estimate together will cost money.
4 years agoPrice manipulators: DO NOT agree for any service until you get a clear WRITTEN estimate!! Make sure to skip Sandy and talk to the owner, I believe his name is Clayton. Sandy is probably a friend/relative who is obviously way over her head, and will give you inaccurate estimates. Im mentioning her as a possible relative, because she is always right and the customer is always wrong. Pretty weird and awkward experience with those two. Is this business even legit? They probably keep changing their name for a reason. The invoice wont provide any business license or any reliable info. Bottom line: expensive, unreliable, and completely disrespectful they treat customers who only require a detailed invoice and explanation why the final bill is so far away from the initial given estimate. That's what happens when the demand is high and there is not enough decent honest competition.
5 years agoSunset Plumbing & Heating

(785) 375-5755I have had Sunset out at my house for a variety of projects; broken pipe, emergency clean out on a weekend, sewer inspection, and now full sewer replacement. Each time they have been timely, respectful, knowledgeable, and transparent. Highly recommend.
3 months agoThese guys are fantastic. I had my furnace go out on me just a few days before a big storm. Tim got us up and running within hours of me calling him. And he had a replacement part installed same day. Would highly recommend to anyone needing repairs or replacement.

5 years agoThey weren't able to come out on the Saturday before the 4th of July because they were so busy, however the employee listened to me and told me exactly how to fix my plumbing issue. He went above and beyond to help me and explained what parts to buy and how to fix the problem. I was so grateful to have a way to fix it and get water back and running to my house. Shark bite to the rescue! Thank you!

3 months agoAlternative Air
9069 Green Valley Dr, Manhattan, KS 66502, USA
(785) 410-2530Alternative Air was very good to work with in the beginning. For the bidding and the original installation. Being very flexible in being able to work with our realtor and our working hours to install a full blown new heating/cooling system, and even a hot water heater. Originally, things were great. The A/C and hot water heater worked just fine. After about a month, we found a water leak in our basement caused from the A/C unit. This water has caused some damage to some sheet rock, and our carpet in the bathroom.(Yes, carpet in the bathroom its a old home.) Our basement had no floor drains so, the condensation was pumped into a PVC sewer pipe. That's were we found the issue. They had created there own PVC P-trap and glued it into the existing sewer line, with a copper pipe going into it. The copper pipe was not long enough, and the pipe was also spilt and cracked. So, every time the pump kicked on it sprayed water everywhere. I called Alternative Air, (this was after hours). They said they couldn't get someone out until the next day. I told them that was fine. A younger man, came out the next day. He replaced the pipe that was way to short to begin with and that had the crack. But, after he left I went to inspect the work. Just making sure the issue was resolved and immediately noticed the brand new piece of copper pipe he installed was bent to sharp and broke. I immediately took pictures. I decided to fix the copper pipe on my own, and immediately took picture afterwards. I emailed Alternative Air on multiple occasions letting them know of the issue, and that it was not resolved. I do not believe that the $11,000 cost of installation (that is paid in full), and then now trying to charge me $200 fee for coming to fix the copper pipe (that wasn't fixed). In speaking on the phone with Kendra she says there have been a lot of changes. That's why they never responded to my email. They are not whiling to budge except $100. Kept mentioning "Joe" only authorized $100 off. I've attached pictures after the original installation. You can see were there is new glue on the pipe. This shows they moved the original P Trap and copper pipe, so should have known the old copper pipe was broke and been fixed on original installation. Then, the picture of the brand new pipe that was installed, and a break or puncture in the new copper pipe taken minutes after the young man left. Please keep all of this in mind when utilizing Alternative Air. This has been really disheartening. Being a newer resident to the area, we trusted them based on recommendations from others. But sadly I would not recommend them to anyone at this point. I'm not upset that the issue wasn't resolved... I took care of it. But, you shouldn't charge clients for a service or installation that wouldn't meet quality standards.
6 months agoGreat service with knowledgeable and friendly techs. Mike and Dawson are two guys who you can trust to get things done correctly the first time. Both of them are always happy to explain what they find and run through everything that needs done. Cant recommend this place highly enough. Had to call them out to get a leaky water heater fixed only to discover I needed to replace the whole unit. Dawson called their support and I ended up getting a new water heater free with the manufacturer warranty. Great staff all around.
8 months agoAlternative Air is a spectacular business to work with! I would know, I have done business with them many times. "Always available, prompt, and highly knowledgeable! This team acts fast and provides amazing customer service, including a follow-up after the work was done. The owners and their employees are incredible. I wouldnβt go anywhere else!β
3 months agoDe Hart Plumbing Heating & Cooling
706 Pecan Cir, Manhattan, KS 66502, USA
(785) 341-4193I am a member of their preventive maintenance program and I HIGHLY recommend that. We had a plumbing issue 2 weeks ago and Lancealot came to solve. Did the requested fix and more to make certain the affected systems in the house were back to 100%. I have had other service providers do "the job" and the De Hart team always takes the time and care to make sure that their service was the absolute best.
3 months agoSean was wonderful, I showed him where everything was and he got to it. The office staff was so easy to work with on rescheduling the maintenance service because of a scheduling issue on my part. I love how honest and up front your company is, the price you pay is well worth the service. I completely forgot there was maintenance service offered with what we purchased. Thank you!
3 months agoAshton came out to do our HVAC maintenance through the VIP membership! It was a fairly quick process and pictures were provided and thoroughly gone over to assess next steps. Been using DeHart for about a year now and have always been pleased with their communication and business as a whole. Would always recommend!

609 Pecan Cir, Manhattan, KS 66502, USA
(785) 776-5012We had the pleasure of having Justin and Jeremy service our new heating and cooling as well as water heater. They went above and beyond to help our family and daycare get back up and running during a blizzard. They were professional, knowledgeable, kind, and worked hard! We appreciate them so much! Best service experience ever!
4 months agoI can't say enough good things about Standard. I came across them after a major flood that completely killed my furnace and water heater. They came out and took the time to really look over everything and help me decide if it was worth trying to fix what was left or replace everything. They have since been out to help me navigate having no A/C toward the end of this summer. Genuinely some of the kindest and most knowledgeable people to work with. Always very honest about what they can reasonably do and how they can help.
8 months agoWe had such a great experience! Our AC went out during the dead of summer and Jeremy came out right away. He was professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything clearly. He quickly fixed the issue and made sure everything was running perfectly before he left. It was such a relief to have our home cool again so quickly. Weβre so thankful for Jeremyβs excellent work and highly recommend this company to anyone in need of HVAC services!
9 months agoM & S Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc.
1101 Hostetler Dr, Manhattan, KS 66502, USA
(785) 537-7303My in-laws were worried because an underground pipe burst right before Christmas day. Initially they weren't able to arrive until the following Monday, but they rearranged their schedules and were able to fit them in on Christmas Eve. They were efficient, arrived promptly at 8 am, and did the job well. Thanks to this company for allowing our families to still have water and a merry Christmas. I highly recommend this company!
5 months ago100% satisfied with a fix M&S completed for us over the Thanksgiving holiday. Cost, Customer Service, Timeliness was all top tier and will definitely be using them again.
4 months agoTried to get them to my mom's as her plumbing is backing up & it's Saturday. When I called the tech to arrange payment they declined because I wouldn't pay them up front. I have NEVER had any plumbing company EVER require to pay up front. Seems very shady. So, be careful.

Common Drain Issues in Manhattan, Kansas
Hard Water Scaling: Manhattan's local water supply can lead to significant mineral buildup. Over time, calcium and magnesium deposits narrow the diameter of your pipes, causing stubborn, slow-moving drains in kitchen sinks and bathroom tubs.
Old Growth Tree Roots: In established neighborhoods like Central Manhattan and the historic Northview area, mature silver maples and oaks have extensive root systems. These roots often seek out moisture in older clay sewer lines, leading to massive blockages that require professional clearing.
K-State Rental Turnover: The high density of student housing around Aggieville often leads to unique drain challenges. During the annual turnover in August, we see a surge in clogs caused by heavy grease and hair accumulation that standard plungers can't fix.
Limestone Soil Shifting: The Flint Hills terrain is beautiful but can be hard on infrastructure. Shifts in the rocky Kansas soil can cause exterior drain lines to 'belly' or crack, leading to recurring basement floor drain backups during heavy rain events.
Seasonal Drain Maintenance Tips for Manhattan, Kansas
Fall Leaf Management: As the leaves drop along the Big Blue River corridor, ensure your outdoor area drains and gutter downspouts are clear to prevent water from backing up into your basement during autumn storms.
Winter Pipe Protection: Manhattan winters often bring deep freezes. Keep your indoor cabinet doors open during cold snaps to allow warm air to circulate around pipes, preventing ice-related blockages in your drainage system.
Spring Thaw Inspection: Once the Kansas ground thaws, check your basement floor drains for any signs of backup. This is the best time to catch main line issues before the heavy spring rains hit the Flint Hills.
Summer Grease Awareness: During the peak of BBQ season, avoid pouring fats or oils down the kitchen sink. The summer heat can keep grease liquid long enough to travel deep into your plumbing before it solidifies and creates a major obstruction.
Average Drain Cleaning Costs in Manhattan, Kansas
Standard drain cleaning in Manhattan typically ranges based on the severity of the clog and the equipment needed. Simple sink snaking is at the lower end, while main sewer line hydro-jetting or after-hours emergency service will be on the higher end.
Frequently Asked Questions about Drain Cleaning in Manhattan, Kansas
How fast can I get a plumber to my home in Manhattan?
By filtering for your specific zip code and verifying availability in real-time, we often find professionals who can arrive within a few hours, even in busy areas like West Ridge or near the Sunset Zoo.
Do you service residential areas near Fort Riley?
Yes, our network includes certified plumbers who service the greater Manhattan area, including Ogden and properties catering to military families near the post.
Why do my drains keep clogging despite using store-bought cleaners?
Manhattan's hard water and the older clay pipes found in many local districts often require professional mechanical snaking or hydro-jetting that chemical cleaners simply cannot resolve.
Are the plumbers in your Manhattan network licensed?
Absolutely. We only work with certified, local professionals who are fully insured and understand Kansas plumbing codes and Manhattan's specific municipal requirements.
What is the most common cause of sewer backups in the Little Apple?
In Manhattan, it is typically a combination of tree root intrusion in older neighborhoods and grease/debris buildup in high-occupancy rental areas near the university.
