The appointment was easy enough to make & technician Matthew was more than capable unclogging my drain…he had tons of tips also & was NEAT about it all (thank you for wearing shoe covering and cleaning up afterwards), I became a ‘member’ and look forward to my HVAC tune ups!

I want to say that technician Peter Mung was awesome today during my home furnace inspection. Peter was very thorough and identified issues that should have been corrected when my furnace was originally installed in 2024. I really appreciate his good service and professionalism.

Travis repaired a leak on a kitchen sink drain that saved me future repairs by finding 2 additional places the pipes were leaking, one behind a wall. Greatly appreciate his work and knowledge of his business. The price was very fair and reasonable. I will definitely use him for future repairs.

Ben has been our plumber for years in a very remote location on Lake Monroe! His work is beyond excellent!! He recently spent three days in 90 degree plus heat installing gas hookups to our propane tank to install a new range, outdoor grill etc. He never quits no matter how tough the job. We wouldn’t use anyone else for our plumbing needs!

I had an excellent experience with Weddle Plumbing. They responded to my call quickly and gave me a very honest and thorough rundown of what I was likely to encounter and what my next steps should be. They were able to schedule sooner than other plumbers I reached out to. After then initial visit, they guided me on exactly what to look for and order to save money but ensure quality. They were able to install the new water heater almost immediately and were very efficient despite the unique challenges of updating a very old house. Will absolutely continue coming back.

John Norris came over to install a new dishwasher and replace the poorly installed drain that the old one was connected to. He did a fantastic job and was patient, friendly, and above all professional. On his way out he even fixed our front door knob that has been getting hard to turn lately! I would not hesitate to call him again for any plumbing issue.

Never again!!. I would call them back under warranty, but I don't want them in my house ever again. Here we are 2 months later and I've had to re-work everything they have done. They butted rubber seals against rust, and it's leaking again. They didn't clean anything before assembly and it leaks again. Complete price gouging. They took advantage of my desperate situation. My shower water valve broke and flooded part of my basement. We are caring for a special needs person, so we need the shower and tub to be operative. I broke out the shower wall and tile completely by myself to give them perfect access to do the job more quickly. John made 4 copper connections to the shower valve, and replaced my tub drain with a plastic one. They charged me $1886.00. Summers has absolutely no conscience. Use a different plumbing company if you want a fair price.

Summers Heating and Cooling has been absolutely fantastic! Their preventative maintenance program gives us peace of mind knowing our home systems are properly cared for. I can’t say enough good things about their technicians, they’re knowledgeable, thorough, and genuinely helpful in making sure I know how our systems work. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Kyle on our furnace maintenance. He took the time to explain how the system works and walked me through different options for keeping it in great shape. Tyler helped with our plumbing maintenance and was just as detailed and professional. Chad assisted with replacing our water pump and went above and beyond to make sure the solution was cost-effective while educating us along the way. They’re always timely, and I truly feel we’re in safe hands with Summers. Highly recommend their services!

Jason was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable during my service call. He had clearly reviewed my inquiry ahead of time, so he was already aware of my water leak concerns. He listened carefully, validated my suspicion of a potential underground pipe leak, and walked me through the recommended next steps. He handled the scheduling and setup seamlessly, which I really appreciated. I also appreciated the communication throughout the process—I received text notifications about which technician was on the way and confirmations along the way. After the visit, I received an email with photos of the repair along with the invoice, which was very helpful and thorough. There was an $85 diagnostic fee to assess and confirm the issue I suspected. However, since I am located in Jasper, which is technically outside their service area, and Jason was able to come out in the morning, I felt the fee was completely reasonable. Overall, Peterman Brothers provided great service, and I would absolutely recommend them.

Cameron answered all of my questions about the electronic components from pricing to a potential new AC unit. He also gave me several options for services that you all provide. After the furnace/AC installation, Jared Lee and his helper, who I do not remember his name, did exceptionally well. They did run into issues with the flooring which I had a feeling due to running into that same issue with previous projects. Jared did call for additional help to get answers for the unleveled flooring. Whoever those other guys were, I appreciate it wholeheartedly. Jared also went over my new smart thermostat, and gave me pointers for the furnace and AC unit. The only pointer I have is in the future, let the customers know when you plan to test gas/alarms to ensure safety of others hearing and/or any jump scares (: Overall, I have never experienced such an amazing company and so glad to be a member!

TLDR: spent $465 on a fix that lasted only 1 week. I spent a few hours researching and identified a potential cause their HVAC guy hadn't even looked at. It took twenty minutes to fix with a screwdriver, zip ties, and spare insulation, and my system appears to be fully operational for $0 of my own labor. We had our house less than a month when we had our AC suction line (the larger one) and evaporator coil (inside one) ice up on us. I did my best to investigate it and concluded that like a responsible homeowner, I should call the top HVAC company that our inspector recommended. Commercial Service sent a tech over a couple days later and he did some tests and concluded that it probably had a minor leak and needed 3 lbs of refrigerant R-410A and some new caps and cores in case they were the issue. The extra refrigerant brought the subcool to the right level, but superheating stayed near zero and he didn't seem concerned about that. He hit me with a $465 bill (2/3rds of it for just the refrigerant) and left and told me to hope for the best. Over the next few days, the AC failed to keep us at our set temperature and exactly a week later I woke up to find the lines frozen up again. Not wanting to dump $500 on another bad fix, I spent about 6 hours worrying and researching and eventually decided to check the TXV, which basically everything on the internet told me was likely at fault if the superheat was low. Commercial Service's tech never looked at that component, despite telling me it may have been causing issues. When I pulled off the insulation, I found that its temperature bulb was poorly mounted (not parallel to the suction line) and reseating and re-insulating it myself for $0 has seemingly fixed my AC, as the suction line hasn't gotten nearly as cold and the house has been able to easily keep up with our set point as opposed to lagging behind by a few degrees. If the TXV was at fault, as it seemingly was, then the $300 of R-410A I paid for was completely useless, as the system's only real problem was poor TXV install, and Commercial Service's tech didn't do a thorough enough job to check the component that could have explained all of the system's problems (low superheat, low subcool, low delta T). Instead he went with the easy and pricy option of fixing just one of those problems. All I can suggest is that if you have issues and you are at all technically capable, before you pay for any service, get a diagnostic for under $100 to figure out what could be causing the issue, then spend a few hours on Google, Reddit, YouTube, or even ChatGPT and it might give you a better solution for free than what you might get for $500. This won't always be the case, as if refrigerant levels are at fault then it will require equipment you don't have on hand, but it was for me. Obviously other people have had a better experience than I have, as this place has 4.9 stars, but mine was atrocious and I can't recommend anyone spend DAYS of precious income on a fix that might be possible to address BETTER with just hours of research and 15 minutes of work. I came into homeownership with the hope that maintenance would be reasonably priced, but for HVAC I can't say that it is true, and Commercial Service provided my firsthand education in that issue. I did call Commercial Service again after the AC froze up again (before I did my fix) and since it was after hours I requested a callback to talk about it, but I was never called. I wasn't going to pay them for anything more until I'd exhausted my other options and gotten another quote, but it would have provided a chance to at least get their thoughts before I left this review, if not a (free?) second checkup if they care about satisfaction enough to offer it. I didn't expect that, though, so I tried my fix before calling back. First two photos: outside unit when I first had the freezing up issue. Third photo: indoor (evaporator) coil a week later Fourth: TXV bulb after I took its insulation off Fifth: the bulb after I reseated it, more parallel Sixth: the insulation I put over it.

The technician arrived at the early end of the appointment time, much appreciated, and thoroughly explained what we needed to know for basic maintenance. I was particularly impressed that he attended to my concern about the blower motor running. He diagnosed and fixed a problem from an earlier owner’s modification. No hard sell on the service plan, but made sense for us. Much better than my recent experience with Peterman Brothers.

I've had work done that is 5 star, and lately work that is worth 1 star. They recently sent someone out very quickly for a plumbing emergency, which was great. But my jaw hit the floor when I was given the total for them being here barely over an hour - $634. $132 - Diagnostic charge (New charge they're doing just for arriving at your home.) $198/hour - 2 technicians (Did not need 2 technicians nor did I request 2. I was also charged for 2 hours - $396.) $106.50 - part (I can get it at the store for $72.23, but I know companies mark up parts like that.) When they told me the total I was in total shock and said so. They then took it down to $370.50. I appreciate that, but felt like if I hadn't said something I would have had to pay $263.50 more. Just didn't sit well with me. Another time they were here to fix my tankless water heater. They needed to call the manufacturer, which is fine with me, but they sat in my driveway for about an hour and charged me the hourly rate for that. All they were waiting for was a response from the manufacturer to ask a simple question that they would relay the answer to me. I figured they'd just go to the next job while waiting for a response. Didn't feel honest to me.

We had a thirty year old toilet tank which we knew had not only the standard leak which is easily fixed with replacement parts from the nearby hardware store. I am sorry to have forgotten the plumber's name, but would like to give him praise. He called to make sure he could come earlier than planned. He was friendly and competent. He took the tank off and replaced the parts otherwise unaccessible. He was conscientious and took his time. He cleaned all up and left us with a neat, clean and like new toilet. Last but not least the bill was very reasonable. In summary: I wholeheartedly can recommend Riverway plumbing.

Brandon Varney and Michael Bonnie from Riverway came to my house on September 15 to fix a leak that had been driving my water bill up to almost five hundred dollars a month. The initial projection for the repair would have required them to break the slab in my laundry room to run piping to the location where the leak was. However, instead of breaking the slab, they ran tubing over the top along the wall which saved them so much work and so much of a headache for me! My first bill after the repair was down by almost four hundred dollars. This next bill should be down by four hundred and fifty dollars! I love Riverway! I attempted to post a video of the repair that they did in my laundry room, but for some reason it won't allow me to do it.

Riverway has saved our bacon more than once. We own a wedding venue on the south side of Bloomington, and with the nature of our business, we are busiest outside of business hours. During different events we have had a urinal spew water out of the wall and toilets overflow after someone flushed a diaper. Both times we have called Riverway's after hours number and they have quickly saved us. Having partners that you can count on when you need them most is so comforting. Especially when you're responsible for the venue on someone's wedding day. Thank you for being awesome, Riverway!

Straight talking plumber, straight forward sewer cleaning, no hidden costs, whether it takes one hour or longer the price you are quoted is the price you pay. Called him on a Saturday and he was able to come over within the hour. I wish I'd known about David Sewer when we bought our house, he would have saved us hundreds of dollars over the seven year we've been here.

Dakota was on time and professional. He checked my outlet and it was fine, replaced the garbage disposal and showed me how to fill up the sink and drain it to check for leaks. Made sure it ran and gave me the price he quoted for the product. The service call and labor were the same as estimated. A very pleasant and fast repair. I would recommend this company. Thanks, Pam

My experience with Aim To Please Plumbing ended up being mixed, and I want to be fair in describing it. On the first day, an apprentice named Jalen came out. He was polite on the surface, but his attitude felt dismissive and uninterested. When I asked a simple question about using a Fluidmaster seal, he reacted in a way that came across as borderline hostile, and it left me feeling like I had no say in my own home. However, I later learned that this was not the licensed plumber. The next day, Malachi — the licensed professional — came out, and he was the complete opposite. He was respectful, a good listener, and genuinely easy to work with. He took the time to understand the situation and treated me the way a homeowner should be treated. He’s a good guy, and I want to make sure that part is acknowledged. The final bill was $563, which felt high for the work performed, but I do want to be clear that Malachi himself handled things professionally and respectfully. This review reflects both parts of the experience: a rough first day with the apprentice, followed by a much better interaction with the licensed plumber.

We have used Aim to Please a few times now for our plumbing and electrical needs. They are very knowledgable, competent, and polite. We had them re-install a toilet and vanity sink in one visit, as well as replace our water shut off with a valve. Another visit they took a look at some electrical issues we were having after some surges. The services were on the higher end price-wise. But the service was excellent. They did inadvertently take our tape measurer and we called after they left and they returned it same day.

Verify Availability Before You Call

Professional Drain Cleaning in Bloomington, Indiana

Bloomington’s unique blend of historic charm near Kirkwood Avenue and the vibrant energy of the Indiana University campus creates a diverse set of plumbing needs. From the limestone-heavy soil of Monroe County to the aging infrastructure in older neighborhoods like Prospect Hill, Bloomington residents need more than just a generic fix; they need local expertise.

Finding a plumber who is actually available when you have a backed-up sink or a basement floor drain overflowing can be a frustrating cycle of voicemails. Our service changes that. We maintain a network of 11 certified Bloomington plumbers and do the heavy lifting for you. We filter by your specific zip code and personally call the technicians to confirm they can handle your specific drain issue today before you ever have to pick up the phone. Whether you are in the 47401 or 47408 area, we ensure you get a verified professional who is ready to work.

Common Drain Issues in Bloomington, Indiana

Hard Water Mineral Buildup: Southern Indiana is famous for its limestone, but that same geology leads to high mineral content in the local water supply. Over time, calcium and magnesium deposits can narrow your pipes, leading to slow drains and frequent clogs that require professional descaling.

Root Intrusion in Historic Neighborhoods: Many of Bloomington's beautiful tree-lined streets near the B-Line Trail feature older sewer lines made of clay or cast iron. Thirsty roots from local hardwoods often penetrate these lines, causing massive blockages that only a heavy-duty auger or hydro-jetting can resolve.

High-Occupancy Rental Stress: In student-heavy areas near the IU campus, plumbing systems often face excessive stress. From 'flushable' wipes to cooking grease in shared kitchens, these high-use drains are prone to sudden, stubborn backups that require immediate attention to keep a household running.

Karst Topography Drainage Issues: The natural sinkholes and underground drainage patterns in the Bloomington area can sometimes affect how residential perimeter drains and sump pumps operate, especially during heavy Indiana rainstorms, leading to unexpected backups in basement drains.

Seasonal Drain Maintenance Tips for Bloomington, Indiana

Prepare for the Winter Freeze: Before the first deep freeze hits Monroe County, ensure all outdoor spigots are disconnected and basement drains are clear to prevent pressure backups if a pipe further down the line becomes sluggish.

Manage Autumn Leaf Debris: Bloomington is known for its foliage, but those leaves can quickly clog outdoor area drains and gutter downspouts. Clear your drainage grates weekly during October and November to prevent basement flooding during fall rains.

Spring Sump Pump Check: As the ground thaws and spring rains arrive, test your sump pump and floor drains. The high water table in Southern Indiana can easily overwhelm a system that hasn't been cleared of winter silt and debris.

Summer Grease Awareness: During the humid Bloomington summers, fats and oils from outdoor grilling can solidify quickly in your pipes. Never pour grease down the kitchen sink, as the local humidity and heat can exacerbate odors and buildup in your drainage system.

Average Drain Cleaning Costs in Bloomington, Indiana

$175-$450

Typical drain cleaning costs in Bloomington vary based on the complexity of the clog, the location of the blockage (main line vs. secondary line), and the need for specialized equipment like sewer cameras or hydro-jetting.
