A1 Septic & Drain Cleaning
Westby, WI 54667, USA
(608) 606-5599I had to call twice to get an appointment set up for septic pumping and county inspection requirements. (People are busy...I get it...was willing to overlook this.) Overall they were polite and accommodating. I wasn't going to be home when they arrived so we were instructed to leave a check and the inspection form on the front door. They completed the form and left a receipt. Today I went to use the hose I keep on my back deck and couldn't find it! The spigot is about 20ft from my deck and on the other side of a tricky gate. We have it on an extender so we don't have to fight with the gate every time we need to use it. It took me a couple minutes to notice that the hose was laying, all stretched out, on the ground near our septic tank. After a little maneuvering, I managed to pull the hose back onto the deck. That was when I found out that it had been turned off at the spigot. (We always leave it ON because....the spigot is difficult to access.) So I trekked around the house and turned on the spigot. Immediately I could hear water spurting but assumed it was from the automatic dog waterer that my dog was very near. So.... around the house I go to find that it wasn't the dog waterer but rather the hose sprayer was no longer seated correctly and spraying water everywhere. Another trek back to the spigot to turn off the water, pull the hose back off the deck so I could be next to the spigot while I re-seated the wand attachment, and blah blah blah.... Seems like a little thing but a huge annoyance that could have been avoided with some communication. They didn't mention needing access to the hose. They didn't out it back where they found it and they certainly didn't leave it in the condition they found it in. Again, this probably SOUNDS petty, but for $220 and two calls to schedule service, I feel justified in my annoyance. Don't think I will use them again.
4 years agoI called this afternoon with a sewer backup issue and they were able to help right away. Gave great detail and suggestions for future maintenance. Super happy with their quick response time and willingness to help!
2 years agoI only experience terrible customer service with this company. I called their 1-800 number on a Thursday and was told I would receive a call that night about my septic system issue. The following Tuesday, I called again because I hadn't heard anything. The person on the phone apologized and said I would receive a call that day or the next. It's been three weeks now, and I haven't heard a word. This company is clearly not reliable.

Common Drain Issues in Franklin, Wisconsin
Tree Root Intrusion: Franklin’s lush landscape and mature trees are a source of pride, but they can be a nightmare for your plumbing. Roots from large oaks and maples often find their way into older sewer lines, causing slow drains and recurring backups that require professional intervention.
Hard Water Mineral Buildup: Like much of Southeast Wisconsin, Franklin residents often contend with high mineral content in their water. Over time, calcium and magnesium can build up inside your pipes, narrowing the passage and making it easier for hair and soap scum to create a complete blockage.
Aging Infrastructure in Established Neighborhoods: In the more established parts of Franklin, cast iron or clay pipes are common. These older materials are prone to 'scaling' or developing bellies where debris collects, leading to frequent kitchen sink and bathroom clogs that DIY solutions can't fix.
Basement Floor Drain Issues: With the clay-rich soil common in the Milwaukee suburbs, Franklin basements are susceptible to moisture. If your floor drain begins to gurgle or backup during a heavy Wisconsin rainstorm, it’s often a sign that your main sewer line is obstructed and needs immediate clearing.
Seasonal Drain Maintenance Tips for Franklin, Wisconsin
Fall Leaf Management: Before the Wisconsin winter sets in, ensure your outdoor drains and gutters are clear of fallen leaves to prevent ice dams and potential basement seepage during the spring thaw.
Winter Pipe Care: Franklin winters are harsh. Keep your drains flowing by maintaining a warm home temperature and ensuring any pipes located on exterior walls are properly insulated to prevent freezing and sluggish drainage.
Spring Thaw Inspection: As the snow melts into the local watershed, check your basement floor drains for any signs of slow drainage. This is the best time to clear out any winter accumulation before heavy spring rains arrive.
Summer Disposal Best Practices: During backyard BBQ season, avoid putting fibrous scraps like corn husks or potato peels down your disposal. The summer heat can also cause grease to solidify more stubbornly in your Franklin kitchen pipes.
Average Drain Cleaning Costs in Franklin, Wisconsin
Prices for drain cleaning in Franklin generally depend on the severity of the clog, the depth of the blockage in the line, and whether specialized equipment like hydro-jetting or sewer cameras are required. Emergency after-hours or holiday service may also affect the final cost.
