Top Rated Plumbers in State College, Pennsylvania
1-Tom-Plumber State College
171 Technology Dr Suite 100, Boalsburg, PA 16827, USA
(814) 208-9175Very easy to schedule the appointment, called late in the afternoon & I was scheduled for the very next morning. The gentleman, Dom Ballou, called me about 20 minutes prior to his arrival, he was right on time. Dom was very professional, explained to me what options we could do & what would be the best choice of options to clean out the drain. He informed me on the cost & was very helpful in explaining what he was going to do. It took about 30 minutes to break through the clogged drain, he checked the toilet to make sure the flow tank was working properly, ran several flushes & filled the floor drain to make sure the drain was flowing correctly & cleaned up afterwards. Dom was great to work with & I would highly recommend 1 Tom Plumber, Dom Ballou was excellent, very courteous & professional.

3 months agoSampsell's Plumbing, Inc.
97 Tusseyville Rd, Centre Hall, PA 16828, USA
(814) 364-9209We had an emergency plumbing need about a month ago. My husband called Sampsells early in the morning and they answered the phone, committed to coming to our property the same day, and called when they were on their way. TJ was very respectful, fixed the problem (we had a clog in our sewer line. Not pleasant!) And their pricing was surprisingly very reasonable. I will use them for all future plumbing needs and being in the real estate industry, I will refer my clients to them as well! Thank you, Sampsells!
5 years agoWe received amazing service from Sampsells Plumbing. We could not find the source of water leaking through our ceiling - they showed up same day, it took them about 30 seconds to find the source and begin repairs. Friendly, efficient and affordable - we also received helpful advice that will (hopefully!) save us from needing to make another emergency call in the future. Highly recommend!
1 year agoTroy was wonderful! When we needed a whole new faucet and pipe for our hose he was great at explaining it all. Not only did he do a an excellent job at replacing it all, he was an absolute pleasure to talk to. Before we knew it the job was done and he was showing us the work he had completed. We would definitely recommend Sampsell's Plumbing to any of our neighbors!

2597 Clyde Ave #1, State College, PA 16801, USA
(814) 238-8180I have older A/C wall units to maintain that few places will service anymore. Very happy that Goodco Mechanical is one of them. Colin took care of cleaning each one thoroughly with care and precision. I look forward to relying on my A/C for years to come, as a result. I highly recommend. Thanks! 4-03-2025: Mike at Goodco is a true expert, and I value and trust his knowledge and quality work. So far, he has performed necessary home maintenance, such as cleaning out my dryer duct, and he quickly diagnosed a leak in my basement, which was determined to be from a broken dishwasher pump. More recently, Mike and his assistant, Colin, added new and improved plumbing fixtures, including a faucet assembly, to my main bathroom tub/shower. Today, he fixed my master bathroom commode, which was constantly running and wasting water. Soon, he and his assistant, Jacob, will be adding new plumbing and faucet fixtures to my master bathroom tub/shower, as the old ones are quite outdated and leaky. Again, I HIGHLY recommend the service professionals at Goodco. 4/10/2025: Mike and his assistant, Jacob, installed my lovely, updated new bathtub/shower fixtures, as well as an extended access panel for my master bathroom and did a great job as usual. Always courteous, professional, and very efficient, and their knowledge of plumbing is invaluable, to say the least. Thanks so much!
1 year agoHad a serviceman to my home since my house was not getting warm. Brian spent time checking systems and although he didn't find anything significant, I have heat. He did something right and I am very grateful since it is five degrees outside and 70 degrees inside. Polite young man.
4 months agoWe recently had our second HVAC system installed for our condo units, and once again we are very pleased with the service. Nate L. came out to give us an estimate and kept us informed during the several weeks while our unit was on order. His communication and updates were very much appreciated. On the day of installation, Nate arrived on time and worked diligently throughout the day. Because of the complexity of the installation, he needed to return the next day to complete the job. He was very apologetic about the extra time required, but we understood and appreciated his thoroughness in making sure everything was done correctly. Overall, the experience was professional, efficient, and courteous. We would not hesitate to recommend Goodco Mechanical for HVAC installation and service.

349 Cypress Way, State College, PA 16801, USA
(814) 571-4583We contacted several contractors about losing electricity to nearly a quarter of our home and a mystery bathroom leak. Ivan with KPS Electrical and Plumbing was the only one who could come out within 24 hours. During his first visit, Ivan quickly troubleshot the issue and restored power to our living room ceiling light by rerouting the electrical, bringing electricity back to part of our home right away. He clearly explained next steps for the remaining electrical work and the bathroom repair. Ivan was easy to work with and incredibly patient, even when plans shifted. He thoroughly troubleshot each issue, made thoughtful and affordable pricing adjustments, and clearly explained options along the way. He quickly fit us into his schedule, and his team worked efficiently and professionally, doing a superb job and cleaning up at the end of each day. We were extremely impressed with the responsiveness, workmanship, and professionalism of Ivan and the KPS team, and we would not hesitate to recommend them.

5 months agoMusser Sewer & Septic LLC
9171 Yocum Rd, Petersburg, PA 16669, USA
(814) 667-2298Our septic tanks were high, and the alarm wasn’t sounding correctly. I determined the pump wasn’t working and started calling around the evening of January 7 to see if anyone could help quickly. One of those calls, after 6 pm, was to Musser Sewer and Septic. I wasn’t even sure they worked on septic pumps, but I left a message anyway. Todd called me back within 10–15 minutes, explained the situation clearly, and said he could be out the next day with a replacement pump. True to his word, Todd and his nephew Grant arrived early on January 8 and got right to work. What really stood out was how patient and thoughtful they were. They let me watch, explained what they were doing, and helped me better understand how my septic system actually works. That kind of transparency and education is rare and very much appreciated. At the time, Musser didn’t provide pumping services, so another company pumped the tanks and mentioned a possible dip in the sewer line from the house to the tank. Todd didn’t just leave it at that, he camera-scoped the line himself and confirmed that while there is a dip, it isn’t causing any significant issues and the system will continue to function properly. That extra step gave me real peace of mind. They’ll also be coming back to fix the septic alarm once frost conditions improve. Todd and Grant were excellent, quick, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. I truly appreciate their work and their professionalism. They will absolutely be our family’s go-to septic professionals going forward. I highly recommend Musser Sewer and Septic. There’s a reason they consistently earn 5-star ratings.
5 months agoMusser Sewer & Septic LLC provide phenomenal service . I can’t say enough good things about Todd and the crew. They assessed a severe situation, identified the problem, explained what they were doing, and used the camera to show me what was occurring. The major disaster was taken care of in a very short time and they are coming back to provide additional services. I am so happy to have found such knowledgeable,,experienced. and reliable people. Highly recommend ed! i

Common Drain Issues in State College, Pennsylvania
High-Density Student Housing Clogs: In the apartment complexes and converted homes surrounding Beaver Avenue and College Ave, high turnover and heavy usage often lead to stubborn grease and hair clogs. These issues require professional-grade snaking to prevent recurring backups that can affect multiple units.
Mineral Scaling and Hard Water: State College and the surrounding Centre County area are known for limestone-rich soil, which leads to hard water. Over time, calcium and magnesium deposits build up inside your pipes, narrowing the passage and making it easier for debris to catch and cause a total blockage.
Root Intrusion in Older Neighborhoods: Many of the charming, older homes in the University Terrace and College Heights areas have mature root systems from large trees. These roots often seek out moisture in aging sewer lines, causing structural damage and persistent, slow-moving drains that store-bought chemicals can't fix.
Football Weekend Overload: During Penn State home games, the local population swells significantly. This surge in water usage can put immense pressure on older plumbing systems and septic tanks in the outskirts of town, often leading to emergency drain failures when local shops are at their busiest.
Seasonal Drain Maintenance Tips for State College, Pennsylvania
Post-Winter Pipe Inspection: After the ground thaws in Central PA, check your basement and crawl spaces for slow leaks. The expansion and contraction of pipes during a State College winter can create small cracks that eventually lead to major clogs.
Autumn Leaf Management: Before the first snow hits the Allegheny Mountains, ensure your outdoor area drains and gutter downspouts are clear of fallen leaves to prevent basement flooding during the late-fall rains.
Move-Out Cleaning: For those managing rentals near PSU, we recommend a professional hydro-jetting every summer during the student transition period to clear out accumulated grease and prevent 'first-week' emergencies in August.
Holiday Prep: With State College being a hub for family gatherings, never put fibrous vegetables like celery or potato peels down the disposal during Thanksgiving or graduation season, as these are the leading causes of kitchen sink backups.
Average Drain Cleaning Costs in State College, Pennsylvania
The cost of drain cleaning in State College typically depends on the severity of the clog and the equipment required (e.g., standard snaking vs. hydro-jetting). Emergency services during Penn State event weekends may incur higher rates.
