All-Flo Plumbing LLC
5110 W River Dr NE, Comstock Park, MI 49321, USA
(616) 361-7800All-Flo has unclogged our kitchen sink drain line a few times over the years. Always grateful for their quick and affordable service. I recently contacted Suzanne about replacing my low flow kitchen faucet and she put me in contact with Dan. He recommended several models and I then set a time for installation. Kevin removed and installed my new faucet quickly, which allowed me to save some $$$ from the quote. I am very impressed with All-Flo and the staff is great to work with. You can count on their superior service, prodcts and technicians to keep things flowing. Thanks guys!
2 weeks agoI needed a basement clog investigated and they had a tech in the area and could swing by. Justin texted a heads up he was on his way, was thorough in his work and explanation of what was going on. We talked through the fix options and costs associated, he was honest and transparent with pricing and options to complete the work. He had all the equipment needed on his truck and got us upgraded and fixed in less than 3 hours on the same day. He was kind, knowledgeable and clean/tidy which was very much appreciated. I received an emailed invoiced that matched our discussion and the office team was ready for payment when I called. It was the most seamless experience I've ever had with a plumbing company and couldn't recommend them enough. Thanks All-Flo team.
1 month agoJohn did a great job! I was recommended the company by a friend and they were able to send someone out to me the next day. John was able to get the clog out of our sink in less than 30 minutes. We will definitely be using yall again if we have any future plumbing needs! Thank you!
1 month agoService Professor
4770 50th St SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49512, USA
(616) 207-4174Kamari came out and cleared a clog in my kitchen sink. He was great, polite, and professional. I absolutely would have Service professor do work for me again. After having Kamari come out, The next day, Cayden came out to replace my garbage disposal. Cayden was also extremely polite and professional. He did a fantastic job in the garbage disposal is now up-to-date on the plumbing and works great! I will continue to have service professor do work around my home as they are reasonable in price, quick and get the job done. Thank you, Service professor.
2 weeks agoUnfortunately for us we didn't have a great experience. We called for the $99 drain clearing special. When we continued to have issues a couple of days lager we called back to express our concern, but we were met with rudeness on the phone. Rather than help us try to resolve the issue and understand our issue we were met with defensiveness and a very condescending tone. I'm sure working in this customer service role is met with lots of difficult people, but we felt they were taking their frustrations out on us. Calling and scheduling the initial appointment was easy. Communication leading up to the appointment was good. The plumbers that came to the house were okay, but didn't explain the issue, what they did, and how they "fixed" the issue. Instead we ended up having call another plumber to take care of the clogged drain for a more expensive emergency weekend service. They were much more informative explaining what happened, where the clog took place, and what we could do to prevent it in the future. Unfortunately, you'll be better off spending more to have a better experience elsewhere. We read a lot of the negative reviews on reddit but went for Service Professor hoping to save some money and in the end wasted more time and money because of it.
1 month agoI have never had a bad experience with Service Professor. We’ve used them many times over the years for various services. They’ve always been very knowledgeable and friendly. You can typically get an appointment pretty quickly which I really like. They have a good membership program too. I always recommend them.
2 weeks agoBergsma Plumbing LLC
285 Dodge Ct, Comstock Park, MI 49321, USA
(616) 813-5219We had a 20+ year old water heater that started leaking after business hours . I tried turning off the valve supplying the water but it too was ancient and would not shut off the water supply completely. So, options were to let it continue leaking until the next day, or call a plumber after hours and pay emergency repairs price. Furnace, and washer dryer were in the line of water as it flowed into the floor drain, so opted for emergency service. Bergsma sent out a plumber within a couple hours even though they had several calls and it was getting late. Charge was $250 for the service call and an additional $350 for the work performed. A total of $600. The plumber managed to get the old valve closed, stopping the flow of water, and drained the water from the water heater with a hose into the floor drain. If I hired Bergsma to install a new hot water heater they would deduct $350 from the cost of the installation . I had them schedule installation of a new water heater for the next day. Total cost was around $3800. Probably high end for a hot water heater, but it included emergency service and next day installation. Several things that I would have liked done differently, the old water valve wasn’t replaced, just left in the open position and a new shutoff valve put just below it, a corroded elbow wasn’t replaced, and it was touching a new copper line. Also, the flexible gas line was too tight where it coupled with the main and, so far, the work wasn’t inspected by the city.
2 months agoWe recently had our shower drain repaired and couldn’t be happier with the service. Matthew Grand-Girard was professional, on time, and clearly explained what was causing the issue before starting the repair. The work was done efficiently and everything was cleaned up afterward. Our drain is working perfectly now with no leaks. Highly recommend for anyone needing reliable plumbing repairs!
2 weeks agoThe service provided on October 13, 2025, by this company was exceptional! The technicians (Sam & Steven) were friendly and knowledgeable. They even made sure to clean up afterwards. The camera inspection was free with drain service! They fixed my plumbing problem promptly, and the price was reasonable! I am very satisfied with their work. I would definitely recommend their services to others! No more looking around for other plumbers!!!
1 month agoMountaineer Plumbing, Drains, & Water Heater Services
4495 Clay Ave SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49548, USA
(616) 207-3424We had Mountaineer replace our entire kitchen drain line 2.5 years ago. While initially we were satisfied with the service, we are now having to replace the line completely again due to the lack of fall/improper decline. It’s very disappointing considering it cost us several thousand dollars. Edited to add- after having multiple plumbers look at our issue we have learned that it wasn’t even done to code.
4 months agoI found a cracked drain in my basement. Roto Rooter wanted to charge me $4,500. I called Mountaineer because they did a great job for me about a week prior with my water heater. They came out within about a couple hours of me calling. For much cheaper than Roto Rooter, they were able to fix the cracked drain (including jacking up concrete), fix some piping under my sink that was not up to code, AND give me a drain cleaning. It was all done same-day, except for the drain cleaning, which they did the following morning. I also had a home warranty company that was a bit of a pain to work with, but with their help I was able to get the max reimbursement under the warranty for cracked drains. Would recommend. My only complaint is that they didn't have a Mountaineer Plumbing magnet to stick on my fridge. They better get on that!! Photos of the new plumbing is attached. I've only seen prettier pipes on my Church organ!
5 years agoI called Mountaineer Plumbing to repair a pipe, and that resulted in my hiring them to REMOVE and REPLACE ALL the hot and cold supply lines in the basement of my duplex. I liked that Matt didn't charge me a 'mileage penalty' for coming to estimate the project. Matt is the owner of Mountaineer Plumbing, and he also worked as on-site project manager on this job. I have attached a picture of one of the supply lines from my 1924 duplex, and you can understand why I wanted to replace all the lines. My tenants were complaining about water pressure issues, and it was time for a capital improvement, an investment in my property. I'm very happy I called Mountaineer Plumbing. Matt brought the project in for the estimated price ... no jacking up the price or complaints. I can't stand when plumbing technicians start whining about problems they encounter on a job and how the original estimate didn't include any additional work. What can I say? Mountaineer Plumbing finished the job as scheduled, even mopping up the floors to leave the basement work area CLEANER when they arrived (I've attached a pic of the basement floor AFTER they cleaned it). The cost of the project was reasonable considering the amount of work involved, and now I am a happy landlord and two sets of happy tenants thanks to Matt and Mountaineer Plumbing. Highly recommend!

3 weeks agoMcDonald plumbing exceeded my expectations! I was having issues with our sump pump and I called them and they came out within 30 mins to address our concerns and then were able to replace the pump, valve & pipe right then. Their prices were very reasonable and lower than another plumbing company who quoted us way higher. I highly recommend them above all others out there.
4 months agoMr. Rooter Plumbing of Grand Rapids
1345 Monroe Ave NW UNIT 216, Grand Rapids, MI 49505, USA
(616) 263-1289Water heater failed at a tenant’s property while I was out of town, and tech Eli handled everything remotely with great communication and professionalism. This was two days after Christmas, and he still found the exact brand I wanted. He sent before-and-after photos, and the install looked clean and well done. Price was $2,800 for a 40-gallon gas unit installed—I thought was slightly high but what isn’t these days, but overall a very smooth and positive experience. Was able to install same day too!
2 months ago**Update - The owner called me and insisted on scoping my pipes again. After I told him no, he got mad and threatened me with litigation over this review. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - TRIED TO SCAM ME I started with Mr. Rooter in 2024 for emergency roots blocking my pipes. They hydro jetted my line and it worked for a year. In October 2025, I had them come back out for the same issue (I had a tree removed so I expected to have this issue until the tree roots rot away). A month later, I had water back-up in my basement so they came back out. They then proceeded to tell my that my pipes were disintegrating, they could see where the "Y" was splitting open and that I was going to need to rip up my floor and replace the cast. I decided to call another company out to take a look and give me an estimate. Not only was one of my pipes never inspected, that they claimed to have opened (the cap was clearly never removed), my pipes were inspected on camera with no signs of damage at all. I saw the "Y" with my own eyes and it looks practically brand new. They also informed me that where Mr. Rooter claimed to have run the camera, it is impossible to even get the camera through the access he claimed. Call a locally owned plumber and avoid this company at all costs or you'll end up paying thousands for work you don't need.
1 month agoWe had a plumbing emergency when our main water valve broke- This company came out quickly to help. They were friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable, which immediately put us at ease during a stressful situation. They handled everything with care, clearly explained what needed to be done, and the price was very reasonable. We will definitely be using them again in the future and highly recommend them.

2 months agoJosh was beyond amazing! After experiencing a pipe burst and extensive flooding, I was completely stressed and overwhelmed, but this plumbing company turned a nightmare into a huge relief. From the moment I called, they were responsive, professional, and reassuring. Josh was prompt, knowledgeable, and extremely professional. He explained everything clearly, worked efficiently, and genuinely cared about resolving the issue the right way. In a very stressful situation, Josh made all the difference. He worked efficiently, thoroughly, and treated my home with genuine care and respect; which made a world of difference after having a bad experience with a previous local company. Josh went above and beyond, not just fixing the problem, but making sure I understood what happened and how to move forward with the insurance process. He also recommended an amazing restoration company—MBR Restoration & Construction They have an amazing team if you’re looking for help with any damage please don’t hesitate to contact them. They just like Josh came out right away, on a Sunday at that. All in all, Josh’s professionalism, knowledge, and kindness truly helped turn a stressful crisis into a manageable crisis. I cannot recommend this company and Josh specifically — highly enough. If you’re dealing with an emergency or need a trustworthy plumber, this is the team you want. Five stars isn’t enough.

4 months agoVander Hyde Service
14200 Ironwood Dr NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49534, USA
(616) 454-5400Gary was very thorough investigating our water heater issue of not staying on. He explained all options and prices along with pros and cons without trying to upsell. Bryan and Kyle returned two weeks later (worked for our schedule) and completed our installation of the water heater. They were very efficient and professional. I was pleased with their communication.
3 weeks agoWe had a great experience with VanderHyde. We called late Friday afternoon and were scheduled right away for Monday morning, which we really appreciated. Bryson was our technician and he was punctual, professional, and very kind. He took the time to explain everything clearly and completed the service efficiently. We would gladly recommend VanderHyde and Bryson to others.
1 month agoI installed a moen sprayer, but the connection to the fastener didn't fit. Sprayed with wd40 then called Vander Hyde. I was informed there would be a $99 service call. Gary and his helper arrived, I explained my problem. Gary attempted to connect several times to fastener. Finally a piece of plastic came out of the fastener and it connected. No tools were needed and I cleaned up afterwards . Then I was informed that the bill was $380. All that took 10 minutes . I tried to talk with management but no luck. Where is the common sense?

Common Drain Issues in Grand Rapids
Tree Root Intrusion: In older Grand Rapids neighborhoods with mature tree canopies, roots often seek out moisture in aging clay sewer lines, causing significant blockages and potential pipe damage.
Hard Water Mineral Buildup: West Michigan's water can lead to calcium and magnesium deposits inside your pipes. Over time, this scale narrows the passage, making it easier for hair and soap scum to create stubborn clogs.
Historic Home Plumbing: Many homes in Kent County feature legacy plumbing systems like cast iron or lead. These require specialized cleaning techniques to avoid damaging fragile, decades-old pipes.
Frozen Exterior Drains: During our intense Michigan winters, poorly insulated drain lines or those connected to outdoor basins can freeze solid, leading to immediate backups when the snow begins to melt or heavy rain hits.
Seasonal Drain Maintenance Tips for Grand Rapids
Fall Gutter and Drain Clearing: Before the first West Michigan snowfall, ensure all outdoor drains and downspouts are clear of fallen leaves to prevent basement seepage during the autumn rains.
Winter Pipe Insulation: To prevent frozen drains during sub-zero Grand Rapids nights, keep your cabinet doors open to allow heat to reach pipes and ensure your crawlspace is properly sealed.
Spring Sump Pump Testing: As the Grand River rises with the spring thaw, verify that your sump pump and its discharge line are clear of debris to handle the increased groundwater volume.
Summer Grease Management: With BBQ season in full swing, avoid pouring fats and oils down the sink. Grand Rapids' fluctuating temperatures can cause grease to solidify quickly in your sewer lateral.
Average Drain Cleaning Costs in Grand Rapids
Pricing in Grand Rapids typically varies based on the severity of the clog, the location of the blockage (main line vs. secondary drain), and whether specialized equipment like hydro-jetting or camera inspections are required.
Frequently Asked Questions about Drain Cleaning in Grand Rapids
How quickly can I get a drain cleaned in Grand Rapids?
Because we filter by your specific zip code and call to verify immediate availability, we can often connect you with a Grand Rapids plumber who can be at your door within a few hours.
Are the plumbers in your network licensed to work in Michigan?
Yes, we only work with certified, local plumbers who are fully licensed and insured according to Michigan state regulations and familiar with Grand Rapids building codes.

Absolutely. We specialize in verifying 24-hour availability so that if you have a sewer backup at 2 AM on a Tuesday, we find the pro who is actually awake and ready to help.
What is the most common cause of clogged drains in Kent County?
Aside from grease and hair, many Grand Rapids homeowners experience clogs due to root intrusion from our city's abundant maple and oak trees, as well as mineral scale from hard water.

Yes. When we call to confirm availability, we can filter for pros who specifically offer hydro-jetting, which is often necessary for stubborn roots or heavy grease buildup in West Michigan homes.
