Catons Plumbing, Drains & Water Cleanup
817 Silver Spring Ave Ste 110C, Silver Spring, MD 20910, USA
(301) 498-8018Here’s the thing about Catons: different departments give you different experiences We had an issue with a blocked drain in the floor of our basement on a Sunday, and Catons sent out an emergency plumber, a water mitigation team, and then later someone from their excavation team. The emergency plumbers were fabulous. Competent, friendly, stayed late on a Sunday until the work was done and fixed the issue. Prices weren’t exorbitant and apparently they have a shift schedule that just has a roster of folks with night and weekend times. The water mitigation guys were a mixed bag. Friendly and knowledgeable, but also they showed up without me asking for them and kinda locked me into services. My homeowners insurance adjuster told me “next time, call us and we’ll send our guys out, and you’ll only get billed for services we actually cover.” So they billed a bit higher than insurance was willing to pay. But all seemed competent and friendly. The worst was the guy from excavation. He sent a camera through our sewer line and told me there were roots in the pipe and I would need a major $15k project that would dig up our front yard, kill our landscaping, and maybe break our concrete walk. Im glad I had the presence of mind to look for a second opinion. He said it was urgent in the next few weeks. I got the name of a plumber that several contractors in my orbit trust, and that plumber sent his own camera down the line the next day and didn’t see a single root. The pipes were old enough to eventually need descaling, and had a few cobwebs in them, but certainly not roots. I ended up paying $350 to save $15k. I don’t know if the person wasn’t trained properly, was incompetent, or fully knew what he was doing and was trying to upsell me on an expensive, disruptive, and wholly unnecessary procedure. I would say trust Catons for emergency plumbing issues…and not much else. At the very least be skeptical if they’re trying to push services on you that you didn’t ask for and weren’t expecting.
1 month agoI had Moya & Jason come out to fix a clog that was flooding our entire basement. They fixed pretty speedy despite having run into issues. I appreciate that everything was being explained to me clearly concerning pricing & what the issue was. Price was great for the work done as well!! Will definitely be using this company again.
5 months agoHungh did an excellent job replacing my 1925 origional toilet with a modern American Standard unit. During the installation instead of replacing the old flange (which would of required cutting the ceiling below and doing a major pipe replacement) he found some replacement bolts in his truck and fit them into the old flange. His quote the day before was equal to his estimate. Very pleased with Caton Plumbing and Hungh's service.
2 months agoThe Drain Fighter - Jetting & Drain Cleaning
809 Cedar Heights Dr Apt d, Capitol Heights, MD 20743, USA
(240) 624-9743It's not often you find a service that truly goes above and beyond, but The Drain Fighter- Jetting & Drain Cleaning absolutely did! We had a nasty sewer pipe blockage that was causing a real headache. From the moment I called, they were responsive, understanding, and scheduled a service appointment quickly on the same day! The technician was fantastic. They arrived on time, were incredibly professional and courteous, and clearly explained the issue and the steps they would take to resolve it. What impressed me most was their thoroughness – they didn't just clear the immediate blockage, but also took the time to inspect the pipes to ensure there weren't any underlying problems. The pricing was fair and transparent, with no hidden fees, which is always a relief. More importantly, the problem is completely resolved! Our drains are running smoothly again, and we have peace of mind knowing the job was done right. Supporting a local family business is important to us, and The Drain Fighter- Jetting & Drain Cleaning made it an easy choice. Their dedication to quality service and genuine care for their customers shines through. We highly recommend them for any sewer pipe blockage issues – they are truly a 5-star company! We won't hesitate to call them again if we ever need their services in the future.
1 year agoThese guys are busy, but they managed to squeeze us in on a Monday evening, staying late to get the job done. Our basement drain was flooding. They had to remove a toilet to get access, but they cleared out the main line and got us back in our home in just under two hours. Straightforward pricing and they stuck to their word. I'd be glad to hire them again.
2 weeks agoI just left my sisters house in DC where James did some work to repair a cracked expansion tank. The insurance adjuster had already been to the property, had the damage assessed by a professional and authorized my choice to use The Drain Fighter; James and another gentleman came to do the repairs. My sister has had 2 other assessments since the repair. Both assessed that the water heater was damaged in the process of repairing the expansion tank because it wasn’t damaged prior to the expansion tank repair as noted in the insurance assessment. I heard this from the new plumber myself!! It looks like tiny holes were drilled or something in the water heater but we couldn’t see them until the new plumber showed us!! To be honest after completing the $350 expansion tank job, my sister was informed by James that the job was completed he then said “but you need a water tank” he offered to install a water tank for $2,100 !!! But here is the issue the tank had no problems no damage before he installed a new expansion tank! Water is coming from the pipe from the hot water heater to the new expansion tank . So she had to turn the water off until it is fixed. My sister texted to complain we have copies of the text and have submitted a complaint to BBB, FTC and we are now on to a massive social media complaint with pictures!! This is horrible .
12 months agoStraw Hat Plumbers & Drain Cleaning of Arlington
5300 Columbia Pike, Arlington, VA 22204, USA
(571) 317-2348Fast and cleared my drain
4 months agoArlington plumbing services can be hit or miss, but this one handled my clogged drain issue fast and professionally. I’d use them again.
2 days agoHad them take care of my toilet which was leaking from the base. Admittedly, the toilet was almost 30 years old so it definitely needed to be replaced. They got a brand new Kohler toilet and finished everything up in less than 45 minutes. Very happy with how quick and efficient they were.
4 months agoThe Secret Plumber
6726 W Wakefield Dr, Alexandria, VA 22307, USA
(703) 688-8434Ian arrived about three hours after they were called and was very friendly and courteous. The work was quoted before proceeding to snake our sink and that was the price paid. He was neat and meticulous and we had good conversations about our plumbing hookups and plumbing in general. He also fixed our clogged shower head for no charge. We give he and his company a 10 star and will not hesitate to call them in the future and will recommend them to our neighbors and friends. Well done.
1 year agoThese guys were great and came when they said they would and fixed my plumbing issues. 10/10. Highly recommend. Many of my neighbor's have also used them and were happy.
1 week agoI am so incredibly happy that I found Smooth Plumbing! They are always able to schedule you without delay, and should you have any questions, their communication is quick - even at 9 PM. The technicians are highly trained, very knowledgeable, communicative and downright nice! The first job I booked, I was sent a bio for my technician, as well as a tracking map to know when he would arrive at my house. Pricing is fair and upfront and you are always given at least three options to choose from as far as the work that could/will be done and what it costs. I had two toilets replaced by Smooth recently, and thank goodness the technician was knowledgeable enough to know my issues were most likely stemming from high pressure in my home (THANKS TJ!). Being as it was time to replace my hot water heater, I did so today and also had a gauge installed that will even out high water pressure when it happens. Talk about fast, he did it all by himself within two hours. Thank you Smooth Plumbing, I have not felt lied to nor taken advantage of. As of this point, I do not believe I will go anywhere else when I need service!
3 months agoSTAR PLUMBING AND DRAIN LLC
959 Central Hills Ln, Hyattsville, MD 20785, USA
(240) 432-3787I called Star Plumbing in the morning. Akeem arrived within an hour of my call. Same day service! Great! He fixed my shower lever, installed a new shower diverter and installed a new faucet and push drain for the bathroom. I would definitely recommend him.
1 week agoFinally found a plumber that knows what he’s doing. I have always had a leak in my laundry room, all the other plumbers I’ve used didn’t get to the root (tree roots, pun intended) of the problem. Akeem used a massive and impressive snake on the basement toilet, problem solved. Akeem is professional, friendly and prompt. I highly recommend Star Plumbing.
2 months agoHe had to come to my house 3 times and worked with me for toilet installations and ran into a problem because I needed 2 installed and he had to clear up bad back up in our pipes. Very professional and good prices! I’m glad I went with this company because they helped me tremendously!! Finally got everything done and working properly for me! It only cost so much because I had 2 toilets replaced and the cost of fixing the bad back up so I can it was definitely reasonable pricing!
2 months agoBrian B. Quick Plumbing
10739 Tucker St Ste 100-B, Beltsville, MD 20705, USA
(240) 414-4687I ordered a new washer and dryer but couldn’t have them installed because the existing shut-off valves were corroded. Pierre came out to assess the situation and provided several options with clear pricing. He arrived on time, was professional, and extremely knowledgeable. He took the time to explain everything in detail—what he was doing, the updated plumbing codes, why larger commercial companies often charge much more, and why emergency services are usually scheduled on weekends. By the time he left, I felt completely confident in the work and the service provided. Pierre installed new shut-off valves so the water to the entire home no longer needs to be turned off, and he properly secured the drainage pipe to the wall, including fixing issues hidden behind the drywall that hadn’t been secured by the previous homeowner. He was also able to install both my washer and dryer, and they are running perfectly. He even followed up the next day to make sure everything was working smoothly. Sorry it took me so long to write this review—but the service was absolutely worth it.
5 months agoCounty inspector said we had a water leak from our service. Brian B Quick set up an appointment within a day and was very careful to analyze the situation. The leak appeared to be coming from our service, but Brian wanted to be sure, because this would be a ~$10,000 repair. So he ran several tests: shut off the water in our house, shut off the water at the curb stop. Listened. Didn’t think it was out service. Came back a few days later and conducted another test: shut off the water at the curb stop. If the water stops bubbling up, it is from a leak in our service. But the water kept bubbling up, so it appear the leak is from somewhere else. I called the County and explained the situation and they sent a crew sued their equipment (metal detectors and listening devices). And they determined the leak was in their trunk line. I am very grateful for Brian b Quick, for their skill and professionalism. And most of all, they honesty and willingness to do the right thing. And they didn’t just start a repair that, in the end, was not necessary.
1 month agoWe hired Brian Plumber LLC for a main waterline replacement and had a great experience overall. Out of five contractors we spoke with, Brian was the only one who provided an exact quote upfront without exploratory digging, which gave us confidence from the start. The crew did an excellent job. The pipe installation wasn’t easy, but they put in extra time and effort to complete it with minimal digging and damage. They also went the extra mile by planting grass seed, adjusting the water pressure to our needs, and leaving everything clean. Communication was smooth throughout—both the office team and Brian were responsive and helpful, even on weekends. The only minor downside was that the project manager didn’t stop by during the work, but support was always available when needed. Overall, we’re VERY satisfied and would definitely recommend them.
1 month agoThe Pipe Doctor Plumbing & Drain Cleaning Services
4508 Apple Tree Dr, Alexandria, VA 22310, USA
(703) 997-5462Gary and his team were great. We had a very old cast iron sewer line that was buried deep on our property, which they were able to dig up, repair a part of the pipe, and then do a trenchless liner for the remainder (approximately 60ft!) out to the main line so we will never have any backups or issues. It was a huge project and very overwhelming for us as homeowners, but Gary and his team were thorough answering all our questions, very flexible with scheduling, and completed all the work on time. We had quotes from a few plumbers for this job and we were very glad we chose The Pipe Doctor.
1 month agoDaniel was exceptional!! He did a great job installing a new water heather in my house. He was very knowledge and understanding . Overall Daniel did a great job I will recommend him for any future projects. He is the guy!!
3 weeks agoHighly recommend The Pipe Doctor! They had the cheapest price around compared to other companies I called, and the service to replace my broken water was fast. Daniel was the technician who came out and he was professional, friendly, and got everything taken care of quickly. Overall just a great experience and I’d use them again.
3 weeks agoA-Atlantic Plumbing & Drain Service INC 1#PRO DRAIN SERVICE
7401 Valleycrest Blvd, Annandale, VA 22003, USA
(703) 560-3366Perfect plumbing service. Two highly skilled technicians cleverly and efficiently solved the problem in my restaurant. They were very dedicated and professional. Before this, I had hired two other plumbers to try to fix the drainage issue, but neither did a good job—especially Roto-Rooter. Not only did they fail to repair my pipes, they also damaged my wall. I will definitely recommend this company to my friends. They are truly the best!
5 months agoRecently had sewer line scoped. A-Atlantic uses the latest technology to evaluate and treat sewer issues, making more invasive practices unnecessary and obsolete. Vernon is very knowledgeable, professional, and down-to-earth. He explains solutions simply and completely, and gives practical options. This is the company you want to use.
1 week agoI had an outstanding experience with A-Atlantic Plumbing—they’re incredibly reliable and trustworthy from start to finish. Overall, they made me feel completely comfortable and confident that the job was done right and would hold up long-term. I definitely recommend A-Atlantic Plumbing to anyone needing dependable plumbing service
5 months agoEmerald Plumbing Co.
119 Oronoco St #101, Alexandria, VA 22314, USA
(240) 392-3535I cannot recommend Miguel with Emerald Plumbing highly enough! He recently helped us with a septic cleanout, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. Not only was Miguel knowledgeable, professional, and thorough in his work, but he was also genuinely kind, patient, and respectful throughout the entire process. He took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all of our questions, and made what could have been a stressful situation feel completely manageable. It’s rare to find someone who combines technical expertise with such outstanding customer service and personal integrity. Miguel went above and beyond, and it was clear that he truly cares about both his work and the people he serves. If you’re looking for a plumber you can trust, Miguel is the person to call. We are incredibly grateful for his help and would happily work with him again in the future.
1 week agoScam – Avoid at All Costs!!!!!! In response to their reply below. I cannot believe they DARE TO lie in their reply below! They never sent any soil report proposal. They lied I refused to pay for it!!!! Again! Be extremely careful to deal with this company!!!!! Do you own due diligence!!! Bunch of liars!! NOT KNOWING WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!!! I contacted this company about installing a new septic system. Initially, they told me I needed a soil report. They charged $150 to come to the property and provide an estimate. After paying the $150, they said a camera inspection was required and charged me another $750. I paid that as well. Then they requested $4,250 for excavation. When I spoke with them again and clarified that I only needed a new system installed, they said excavation was not necessary and went back to saying I needed a soil report.I agreed. After Waited another week with no update, I called in only to be informed that they were not even licensed to perform the required work — despite the fact that I provided the property address on day one. It has now been three months, and I have received nothing: no soil report, no inspection video, no documentation — nothing at all. I wasted three months with zero results. Throughout this entire process, I called weekly for updates. Each time, I was promised a callback for update. Most of of the time there is no update. Instead, they kept making up stories and cheating for more money Do not waste your time or your money with this company!!!!
3 months agoI had a great experience with Emerald Plumbing. John was the plumber. He was friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. He took the time to explain everything clearly and completed the work efficiently. I was very pleased with the service and would definitely use Emerald Plumbing again in the future. Highly recommend!
1 week agoAll Clear Plumbing & Drain Service, LLC
154 Lafayette Ave Unit i, Laurel, MD 20707, USA
(301) 479-8996Juan Benitez and his partner did an amazing job installing my new hot water heater. I couldn't be more impressed at the service. They arrived on time, were professional, and took the time to explain everything clearly before getting started. They also made sure everything was working perfectly before leaving and left the area spotless. You can tell they take pride in what they do. The price and warranty beat 6 other companies. I highly recommend them to anyone needing this type of service. Truly top-notch work!
2 months agoAlan and Cody did an outstanding job at replacing my decades old leaky water heater and bringing the system up to code. They were polite, professional, a pleasure to talk to and they brought some humor to an otherwise costly event. I will use All Clear again.
8 months agoI had a great experience with this company. My water heater was acting up and losing hot water, and the technician took the time to properly diagnose the issue instead of rushing me into a full replacement. He clearly explained what was going on, showed me the condition of the heating elements, and walked me through my options. The lower element had failed and the top was badly corroded, which fully explained the problem. After replacing the elements, everything is working well again and my hot water is stable. I really appreciated the transparency, communication, and professionalism throughout the visit. No pressure, just clear information and solid work. Would definitely use them again.
5 months agoProfessional Drain Cleaning in College Park, Maryland
Finding a reliable plumber in the bustling University of Maryland corridor shouldn't be a game of phone tag. Whether you are a homeowner in the quiet streets of Berwyn or managing a rental property near the College Park Metro, a clogged drain is a major disruption. Our service simplifies the process by doing the legwork for you. We don't just give you a list; we active-scan our network of certified College Park technicians to find who is actually ready to work right now.
Our unique verification process means we filter by your exact zip code and personally call the plumbers to confirm they can handle your specific drain issue today. This saves you from the frustration of calling multiple shops only to find out they are booked through the weekend. From the historic homes near Calvert Hills to the newer developments along Route 1, we ensure you get the prompt, professional service that the residents of Prince George's County deserve.
Common Drain Issues in College Park, Maryland
Many older homes in neighborhoods like Daniels Park feature aging clay or cast-iron pipes. Over decades, these pipes can shift or crack, allowing the massive root systems of College Park’s mature oak trees to infiltrate your sewer line, causing frequent backups that a standard plunger can't fix.
In high-density student housing areas near the UMD campus, kitchen drains frequently fall victim to heavy grease buildup and food debris. When multiple residents share a kitchen, the accumulative 'FOG' (Fats, Oils, and Grease) can solidify deep within the plumbing stacks, requiring professional hydro-jetting to clear.
College Park experiences significant sediment issues due to the regional water mineral content. Over time, these minerals can combine with soap scum to create a concrete-like scale inside your bathroom pipes, leading to slow-moving tub and shower drains that create standing water and slip hazards.
Heavy Maryland rainstorms can often overwhelm local basement floor drains, especially in older properties with poor exterior grading. If your floor drain isn't clear, a single summer thunderstorm can lead to basement flooding, making regular maintenance of these specific drainage points critical for local homeowners.
Seasonal Drain Maintenance Tips for College Park, Maryland
Spring: With the heavy rains typical of Maryland's spring season, ensure your basement floor drains are clear and your sump pump discharge line is free of debris to prevent localized flooding.
Summer: College Park move-out season often leaves kitchen disposals stressed. Avoid putting fibrous vegetables or coffee grounds down the sink, and run plenty of cold water to help flush the lines during the humid summer months.
Fall: Clear your outdoor area drains and gutter downspouts of fallen leaves. If these become blocked, water can back up into your foundation or through the basement drains during the late autumn storms.
Winter: Ensure any exposed pipes in unheated crawlspaces are insulated. Before the first hard freeze hits Prince George's County, disconnect garden hoses to prevent water from backing up and freezing inside your interior drain lines.
Average Drain Cleaning Costs in College Park, Maryland
Prices typically range based on the severity of the clog and the equipment required. A standard sink snaking is on the lower end, while main line clearing or hydro-jetting services represent the higher end of the spectrum.
Frequently Asked Questions about Drain Cleaning in College Park, Maryland
How quickly can you find a plumber near the University of Maryland?
We specialize in rapid response. By filtering specifically for the 20740 and 20742 zip codes, we can usually find and verify a plumber's availability within minutes, ensuring they can get to your College Park location today.
Do you offer emergency drain cleaning on weekends in College Park?
Yes. Our verification service operates 24/7. We specifically call our network to find technicians who are on-call and ready to handle emergency backups on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
Are the plumbers in your network licensed to work in Maryland?
Absolutely. We only scan and verify certified plumbers who are licensed to operate within Prince George's County and the state of Maryland, ensuring your home meets local plumbing codes.
Why do my drains keep clogging in my older College Park home?
Older homes in the area often have 'bellied' pipes or root intrusion from large trees. A standard snaking might provide temporary relief, but our verified pros can provide camera inspections to find the permanent Maryland-specific cause.

That is exactly what we do. We call the plumbers for you to verify they are available. Once we find a match in College Park, we connect you with someone who has already confirmed they can solve your issue.
