Expert Drain Cleaning in Lowell, Massachusetts

UPDATE: I was blown away by how quickly this was handled. Fred, the owner, called me first thing the very next morning and couldn’t have been nicer super down to earth, easy to talk to, and truly understanding. He immediately sent out his senior plumber to take care of everything I wanted addressed, and the work was outstanding. Between Fred’s personal attention and the excellent quality of the work, this was an all around fantastic experience. I couldn’t be happier with how the tankless hot water system turned out. Highly recommend them, thank you Fred and team. We had our HVAC and tankless unit installed by MillTown in 2020 as part of a hydronic heating system. A month ago, the commercial‑grade tank they installed failed. Rheem covered the tank under warranty, but MillTown charged $5,800 for the replacement — which was essentially a retrofit with minimal changes. After reviewing the work, it was clear the job should have been closer to $3,000 based on industry standards and actual scope. Unfortunately, the workmanship was disappointing. The system was left in a condition that doesn’t reflect professional standards — including a drain valve positioned against another pipe, making it impossible to drain the system properly. I provided photos and a detailed email to MillTown expressing these concerns. Their response was that there “wasn’t much to do,” and they offered only a $500 credit toward a future service. Given the excessive pricing and the quality of work, a credit for a future service wasn’t a reasonable solution, and I declined it. Another concern: their website offers no way to contact the owner or any managers directly. For a company that presents itself as family‑run, that lack of transparency says a lot. Overall, the experience was frustrating — from the high cost to the poor workmanship to the dismissive response. Originally called for blocked drain pipe to drywell. Took several visits to finally have them run a snake and camera. Determination was frozen pipe and they couldn't do anything about it - leaving me the customer to purchase hose to suck out standing water, blow warm air into pipe, add de-icer liquid and continue snaking the pipe on my own. Total cost was over $1800. The inside connection to the drain pipe was replaced with minimal materials. Overall, I was not satisfied with the result (drain still clogged) and the cost for work performed seems way out of proportion.

Jonathan and Justyn did a hot water heater replacement for us. They showed up on time, were very polite, and did excellent work. We have a slab foundation and our hot water tank is stuffed in the bathroom closet along with our furnace. They had to work in a very small space all day and even had to remove the toilet and closet doors in order to do the installation. Everything was put back cleaner and in better condition than before. They went above and beyond including reconfiguring the piping layout so that in the future, repairs/the next replacement will go even smoother. After installation, they cleaned up and left the space spotless. We are SO happy with the work that was done and the price we paid. We will definitely continue to use MillTown and would request Jonathan and Justyn in the future for any plumbing needs. Can't recommend MillTown enough!

Great experience with Drains by James for a frozen sewer line. The front office was helpful in getting an emergency repair setup for me. While the fix could not be completed on the emergency call as more specialized equipment was needed, they promptly returned to complete the job. "Say" and the rest of the crew were polite, professional and got the job done. Highly recommended.

Patrick didn't give me the run around. He said he would show up in fa ew hours and he did, actually even earlier then expected and we needed the service asap, since our main Sewer line was clogged. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The name to know when your drains don’t flow — and they just proved it again. I could tell we were heading toward a full-blown main sewer line disaster at one of our rental properties, so I called John’s Sewer & Drain first thing Saturday morning hoping for help before things got… unpleasant. Within about 2½ hours, their tech Paul Kelly was already on site and ready for battle. Paul was awesome — super friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and clearly someone who takes pride in doing the job right. He walked through the issue, explained everything, and handled the whole situation like a pro from start to finish. He even made sure everything was well cleaned up before he left (which, given the nature of sewer work, deserves an extra five stars on its own). As someone who manages rental properties, having a company that shows up quickly and sends technicians like Paul is priceless. I’ve used John’s Sewer & Drain before and never had a bad experience, but this one was next level. It was a great reminder of why they truly are the name to know when your drains don’t flow. I just had John’s Sewer & Drain Cleaning out for some maintenance work on my drainage system, and the experience was outstanding. Mike (#312) arrived within a few hours of my call to inspect the main sewer line from my house to the city street sewer. He thoroughly explained their video inspection service and how it takes a close look at the sewer line, keeping an eye out for clogs, cracks in the underground pipes, and tree roots breaking through the pipe. He walked me through the entire process and even provided a USB stick of the video when he was finished. The inspection showed everything was clear, so there was no need for additional cleaning or to pay for any other services, which was something I really appreciated. We had an issue with our septic pipes and John's was great. Aidan came first thing in the next morning and cleared up our issues. He was very nice, quick and cleaned everything as soon as he was done. The service was reasonably priced for the work done and I'm very happy with the service provided.

Came home to a backup in my basement and was honestly stressing because I had no idea how long it would take to get someone out to look at the issue. I contacted Rooter Man, and they were extremely professional from the start. They reassured me that they could send someone as soon as possible—and sure enough, within about 30 minutes, one of their lead service technicians, Jason, arrived. Jason was incredibly friendly, quickly diagnosed the problem, and had everything resolved in about 40 minutes. This is easily the best service experience I’ve ever had with any company. I would highly recommend contacting them for any drainage needs. They were respectful, responsive, and clearly have great people working for them. 10 out of 10 service. They truly came to the rescue.

I called this morning with a major emergency when our toilet was backing up into our shower. They were recommended to me by my brother, And I now see why he Urged me to call them. Their office answered and Lacie made me feel more at ease on the phone and they had a technician out within a couple hours. The technician who introduced himself as Matt, was hands-down one of the best service technicians that I’ve ever encountered in any industry. He was very professional, Very personable and friendly, and very very efficient and good at his job. He was very thorough, which I appreciate especially today where many people would have assumed the problem was fixed as soon as the toilet flushed. Matt ran the snake through a second time and watched water movement a second time to be sure that our problem was solved once and for all. My family and I are so grateful for Rooterman North for sending Matt and not only will they always be my first call for any of the services they provide that I may need in the future but I will definitely be referring any friends or family that need these services to them!

What a reliable and well-run business! They are reliable, communicative, on time, helpful, honest and affordable. I've used them to fix a number of plumbing issues including a mysterious leak beneath the kitchen sink as well as a clogged drain. Their service is always excellent. It was a great price, $80 less for the toilet clog than I had been quoted by others. Their availability is fantastic and they are always able to arrive within 1-2 working days. Brian was a great help to us in finding the source of our kitchen leak. It wasn't a simple task.

When I finally connected the timing of my missing kickstand and a mysterious clogged toilet (the one and only toilet we have in our house!) I got a few quotes for a new heating system and 128 Heating was the middle price and they did an amazing job. Great communication from the beginning to the end. They came up to Concord and that is well outside their area of operations to fix a problem we had been having with our sewer being backed up. They were here within 4 hours of being called by our plumber. Considering a total of four houses are connected to the problem pipe that was backing up into our basement you can bet we were super relieved to know they were on their way. They fixed the problem quickly and efficiently. They also educated us on some low cost maintenance solutions to manage the problem going forward. They did all of this at a very reasonable price and with a pleasant attitude. I take pride in using small business owners whenever I can and keeping them on my contact list. I was very pleased with the service & plan on using them for future needs...additionally, I had to call Dale to come back a few days later to investigate a slowing of of my hot water in the kitchen, possibly associated the water heater replacement.
