Charles and two other crew members came out and spent an hour diagnosing my problem. I was not charged because it was in the middle of the street and the city has to deal with it. But Charles and the crew were very professional, and did a great job running a snake and camera and diagnosing the problem. I really appreciate them! Very professional.

Charles was wonderful to work with! We had tankless water heaters that needed regular maintenance, stop up shower drains, and some issues with our shower! Charles was quick and made the process super easy! Thank you!

We recently encountered an erosion problem near our driveway caused by a severe clogged drainage line that was installed when the house was built 35 years sgo. The contractor or workers who built the house placed a corrugated drainage line across the driveway before the cement driveway was poured. Eventually, the line became clogged with sediment. The only solution was to dig a new trench line to add PVC pipe to a 2nd downspout. The Mr. Rooter (Kevin) guys did a careful and good job creating a solution to my erosion problem.

I live in an 125 year old home that had the old clay pipes. This was a huge undertaking to replace all of these with PVC. The professionalism of Alan, Colby and Joe was very much appreciated. They answered all of my questions. They left the area well backfilled and covered with straw. I also appreciated Trevor Smith, who first came to diagnose the problem and suggest solutions. He also answered questions thoroughly. I highly recommend this company.

I had pipe surgeon come out to redo the whole houses plumbing and sewer lines. They came out and did that plus a vanity install in another property. It’s been multiple weeks since they did the work and they have left their CAT parked on our sidewalk with a huge pile of debris on it. I went to run the spigot today and they don’t seem to be working. When I crawled under the house to check if the value was turned off I found that they didn’t remove all the old material and instead just piled it under the house. Update on the review: they called and came back out and fixed the spigot that wasn’t working, removed the pipes under the house and cleaned up the dirt and moved the CAT off the sidewalk. I’ve updated this review and rating based on that happening.

We had an old sink that had some leaky pipes and a hose behind the dishwasher that needed replacing. The technician who handled our repair was friendly and thorough. Prices were reasonable and the company was fast in getting us seen. We did have an issue get identified that needs repair in the future and we will definitely consider Pipe Surgeon Plumbing again.

The estimate process with Tanner was easy and thorough. They changed galvanized, replaced all kitchen pipes and repaired sump pump. The work Trent and his team did was impeccable. I contacted several other companies and very happy with the experience with Pipe Surgeons. I would highly recommend.

The service was excellent and extremely fast. We reached out around 8-9am for service and Benneth Smith was here around 10:30am. Can’t ask for any faster service than that! He was very kind and cleaned up after his work was done. It actually was better than when he arrived honestly! You really can’t go wrong with Dauenhauer Plumbing! Fast and efficient! Thank you Benneth for your kindness and excellent service!

Dauenhauer Plumbing is one of the best Plumbing companies in Lexington today. No matter when you call, they always seem to find a way to have availability. They are very honest and straightforward with you about the job at hand and they do everything within their power to solve whatever issue you have. My current service technician Skyler was amazing! He was extremely knowledgeable about my project and the Plumbing Industry in general. Dauenhauer needs to hire and retain more Techs like him! Skyler was easily able to fix my old section of Galvanized steel pipes going to my water heater without having to go backwards and replace more and longer runs of galvanized steel! Dauenhauer is now my go to company for Plumbing and I recommend them for any Plumbing issues you have!

I called a Dauenhauer on a Saturday for an emergency that was a gas leak. I was grateful that they prioritized my call and where on site quickly. However, the Daunhauser plumber told me it was going to cost $980 To “rebuild” a flex line from the HVAC To the gas line. The flex line turned out to be a Less than 2 feet with some connections. After I questioned the time and cost, he was kind enough to reduce my bill to $647. Judge for yourself…..

Maybe I was just lucky, I got Tim Kapiula for my service specialist. Polite, knowledgeable, efficient, professional, I couldn't have gotten better service. He kept me up to date on the progress and let me know when he had to run get a part that wasn't on his truck and the cost of the extra part. The repairs went fairly quick and everything worked perfectly when he was done. Would I recommend him? Would I ask for him next time? Yes, 100%, yes.

The plumber who came out, Ivan, was very professional and knowledgeable. He was able to diagnose the problem quickly and had it fixed with a couple hours of work. The price was good, much better than another estimate I got from a different company. I'll be using KYPD for any future plumbing needs I have.

Professional Drain Cleaning in Lexington

In the heart of the Bluegrass Region, Lexington homeowners deal with unique plumbing challenges, from the sediment-heavy water typical of Central Kentucky to the aging infrastructure in our historic downtown neighborhoods. Whether you’re near the University of Kentucky or out past Man o' War Boulevard, a clogged drain can bring your day to a standstill. Our service takes the guesswork out of finding a reliable plumber in Fayette County. Instead of you calling down a list of names and hoping someone is free, we proactively scan our network of certified Lexington plumbers. We filter them based on your specific zip code and personally call to verify they have a technician available to solve your issue right now. It's a faster, smarter way to get your pipes flowing again in the Horse Capital of the World.

Common Drain Issues in Lexington

Limestone Sediment Buildup: Lexington sits on a massive bed of limestone, which contributes to high mineral content in our water. This 'hard water' often leads to calcium and magnesium buildup inside pipes, creating a rough surface where hair and soap scum easily snag, leading to stubborn clogs.

Historic Neighborhood Infrastructure: Areas like Chevy Chase, Ashland Park, and Kenwick are known for their beautiful historic homes, but they often come with original clay or cast-iron pipes. Over time, these materials can corrode or collapse, requiring specialized drain cleaning techniques that won't damage the integrity of the plumbing.

Bluegrass Root Intrusion: The same fertile soil that makes our horse farms world-famous also encourages vigorous tree growth. Large oaks and maples in older Lexington suburbs frequently send roots into sewer lines looking for moisture, causing major backups that require professional hydro-jetting or snaking.

Kitchen Grease and Local Dining: With a thriving food scene from downtown to the Distillery District, many Lexington residents find themselves dealing with grease-clogged kitchen sinks. Fats and oils from cooking solidify in the cool underground pipes of Kentucky, creating blockages that stop water flow entirely.

Seasonal Drain Maintenance Tips for Lexington

Winter Pipe Protection: Lexington winters can bring sudden deep freezes. Ensure your exterior faucets are disconnected and keep cabinet doors open under sinks during cold snaps to prevent 'frozen clogs' where ice blocks the drain and leads to pipe bursts.

Spring Runoff Management: Heavy spring rains in Central Kentucky can overwhelm basement floor drains and yard drains. Clear out any debris or mulch from exterior drainage grates to ensure rainwater doesn't back up into your crawl space or basement.

Summer Humidity and Condensate Lines: During our humid July and August months, AC units run constantly. Make sure your HVAC condensate drain line is clear; if it clogs, you could end up with unexpected water damage inside your home.

Fall Leaf Clearance: As the leaves drop in the Bluegrass, they often end up in gutters and storm drains. Ensure your downspouts are clear and directed away from your foundation to prevent soil saturation that can shift your main sewer line.

Average Drain Cleaning Costs in Lexington

$145-$450

Prices in Lexington vary based on the severity of the blockage, the location of the drain (e.g., a simple sink clog vs. a main sewer line), and whether emergency after-hours service is required.

Frequently Asked Questions about Drain Cleaning in Lexington

Why is hard water a problem for drains in Lexington?

Our local Lexington water is high in minerals like calcium. These minerals build up inside your pipes over time, narrowing the opening and making it much easier for waste to get stuck and create a clog.

How quickly can you find a plumber near me in Fayette County?

We use your specific zip code to filter the closest available certified plumbers. We then call them directly to confirm they can be at your Lexington home today, often within just a few hours.

Are root clogs common in older Lexington neighborhoods?

Yes, neighborhoods with mature trees like those near the UK campus or Tates Creek often experience root intrusion in sewer lines. Professional hydro-jetting is usually the best local solution for these issues.

Do you provide 24-hour drain cleaning verification?

Absolutely. We know plumbing emergencies don't wait for business hours. Our network includes Lexington plumbers who work 24/7, and we verify their current availability before we connect you.

What is the average wait time once I submit my request?

Because we pre-verify availability by phone, we usually have a confirmed plumber ready for you in minutes, saving you from spending your time making multiple calls yourself.
