Drain Doctor
2570 Wcf and N Dr, Waterloo, IA 50703, USA
(319) 232-2444Plumbers came and unclogged our basement drain. Friendly, nice and very informative. I will call them again if I would need to.
3 months agoMay 2024 Saturday 8 PM - Very kind person from answering service took my call and documented my concerns. Shortly after that James from Drain Doctor in Waterloo called me. Explained he was finishing a project, then would head to my place. About an hour later he called me again saying he would arrive in 15 minutes, and he did. James was extremely respectful, professional, understanding, and caring. I stood beside him, and he thoroughly explained everything as my basement floor drain was plugged with standing water that had backed-up into the drainage tile around my house resulting in some wet spots in my basement. James solved the problem with ease. Deeply appreciated his kindness, knowledge, graciousness, and professionalism. May 2025 - As soon as the professional team from Drain Doctor came to my house and determined I had a broken sewer line 60’ from my house under the street curb, a plan was made to repair it. Once digging started, it was noted that my sewer line had been severed by a trenching company. Drain Doctor became my advocate as they located the trenching company. The trenching company fully reimbursed me once Drain Doctor’s project was completed since I had already paid Drain Doctor. I did not have sewer or water line insurance, nor did my homeowner’s policy pay for the repair. The dedication, hard work, and solid work ethic of the Drain Doctor team of Dan, Dave, James, and Tyler, in addition to office workers Geri and Destiny worked together making the necessary repairs. Thank you Team Drain Doctor! You are deeply appreciated!
9 months agoUsed after moving into our house as our floor drain keeps backing up with water. They were here for about 4 hours and charged me over $600 and said I was good to go, just for my floor drain to start backing up less than a month later. Called them to see if they could come back out since it was doing the same thing and they said they were going to charge me again to come back out.

11 months agoNick's Sewer and Drain, AKA Drain Doctors, sent 2 men out to try and unclog a basement floor drain. They could not get thru it so they said they would have to use their camera to see what the issue was at a price of over $300!! I reluctantly agreed, they could not see anything, but supposedly located the issue under the concrete basement floor. I had a plumber come out the next day to tear up the floor, but no pipes were even found at or near that spot! I asked for a refund or another locate, but they said I would have to pay for that. Do not use this company! much better and cheaper companies out there. Found another who located the issue for far less. It was outside the house. Wasted time and money with them!!!
6 years agoVery affordable, professional and fast! I tried EVERYTHING and wasted money thinking I or my son could unclog the sink. Pretty sure I brought almost every product Menards sells! Nothing worked, not even the guaranteed stuff. Super happy with their service, I’d strongly recommend.

(319) 234-4411Best plumbing company in the upstate of SC. Matt, Mecky and Charlie were professional and very knowledgable. They never came to me with a problem only solutions. Our whole house was plumbed in two days. They were also familiar with our smart toilet choice. I would give them 100 stars if I could.

3 months agoBergen Plumbing, Heating & Cooling
35 Fletcher Ave, Waterloo, IA 50701, USA
(319) 234-1404This morning, in –18° weather, I woke up at 2am to a house that was 58 degrees. I called Bergen PHC’s after‑hours line, and the staff immediately helped schedule an appointment for when they opened. Shortly after that, technician Matt Mulnix arrived, diagnosed the issue, and replaced the faulty part. Within an hour of him being here, my home was warming back up. This company is the only one I trust with my HVAC needs. They make you the priority, explain every repair clearly, and consistently deliver a level of customer care that’s hard to find anywhere else. In extreme temperatures like this morning, you really see who you can rely on. Bergen is worth every penny, and the job is always done right the first time.
4 months agoBergen P & H has done an excellent job keeping our mechanicals running smoothly and that they are ready for the next season with annual maintenance. Also, Reese was out recently and took care of our plumbing problem quickly and efficiently Thank you!
7 months agoI just had some extensive plumbing repair done by Bergen plumbing... Matthew and Dawson were able to get the work done quickly and efficiently. The cost was very reasonable and the work was exceptional. Bergen plumbing and heating will be my go-to from now on. Thank you for your great work!!!
9 months agoDalton Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Electric and Fireplaces, Inc.
5536 Nordic Dr, Cedar Falls, IA 50613, USA
(319) 214-0959Extremely Disappointed — Poor Service, Poor Communication, and Zero Accountability My husband and I had Dalton Heating and Cooling come out for two separate issues: our water heater and our furnace. Unfortunately, both experiences were incredibly frustrating and left us with serious concerns about the quality of their work and their customer service. For the water heater, Dalton sent out three workers. They diagnosed a small leak, “fixed it,” and were out the door in under 10 minutes. That would have been fine if the issue had actually been resolved — but as the week went on, we continued to have a large pool of water in the exact same spot. After several days, we called Dalton back and explained that we believed we needed a new water heater. This time they sent two workers: one who had been there earlier in the week and another who was seeing the issue for the first time. Within seconds, the new worker took one look and said, “Oh yeah, you definitely need a new water heater.” It’s extremely concerning that three workers earlier in the week couldn’t identify what this second worker recognized immediately. When you pay for professional service, you expect a thorough investigation — not a rushed, inaccurate assessment that leaves you with the same problem you started with. For our furnace, Dalton sent a technician who was very kind but needed to call in backup to help diagnose the issue (which we had no problem with). After the additional worker arrived, they were able to get the furnace running but warned us that the heat might be intermittent due to a part they believed needed to be replaced. They recommended we purchase this expensive part and have it installed later in the week. We bought the part that same day and were prepared to move forward — but the furnace never had another issue. We called Dalton to let them know we no longer needed the repair and asked them to be reimbursed for the unnecessary part. Since then, my husband has called at least six times. Each time, he gets the same employee who says the manager will call him back. Not once has anyone returned our call. We also requested statements and quotes for the services performed and were told they would be emailed to us. We received nothing. The lack of communication, follow through, and accountability has been astonishing. Customer service is atrocious. We are extremely disappointed and will not be using Dalton again. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere for your heating and cooling needs.
3 months agoI had no heat in my furnace, so I called Dalton to come out to take a look at it. They arrived a couple hours after I called and got me running. The technicians were very knowledgeable and got it fixed quickly. They were also incredibly friendly and explained the best options available. I also asked about adding heat to my basement and they provided a quote right then and I was able to get my basement heated within a couple of days. Great company and people! Highly recommend!
4 months agoDalton just completed an install of six (heating and cooling) mini splits at my house. The equipment is excellent and the installation was fast, clean and on schedule. No mess whatsoever, and attention to aesthetic was impressive. The team walked me through operation and they worked within my budget. Definitely recommend.

(319) 988-3231Wish I could give zero stars. Poor communication. I called on a Friday for a tenant's shower not draining due to needing a drum trap replaced with a pea trap. Spoke to a gentleman that said he would see if he could get someone in on Saturday to take care of this. He could not get anybody to come in over the weekend, so he told me to call the office back and have them put it down for Monday. I left the tenants information with the office and was told it was doing for Monday. Monday mid-day, the tenant reached out informing me that nobody had ever contacted him or came. I called the office right away and was told she was going to call the techs and let them know they need to reach out to tenant. Tuesday morning, the tenant messaged in that he still hadn't had anybody come or call. I called the office and was told she was going to call the tech again and let them know to reach out. The tenant messaged me about 5 min after that saying that they called but they couldn't get to the issue until Wednesday. Now the tub that will not drain is over flowing onto the floor and damaging the property. When I escalated this to management, I was given the same responses, "Ill call our techs and see if we can move some things around and get someone there today." Had they just told me they could not get it done Monday, I would have scheduled with another plumber in the area and had the issue resolved by now. Very poor communication. I do not recommend doing business with them.
1 year agoI would give a 0 very pour Communication with their people the lady answers the phone. We have a big plumbing problem an been going on since April they did come out to give us an estimate because they need to dig all the way out to the street and we were told they will be out end of may well that came an gone then was told end of June we called to see when there coming an all we heard just makes his own hours, but Justin never called until last Friday when he said that told us to find somebody else to do the job because he wasn’t going to so that left us in a pinch they’re just worthless people. I shouldn’t say all of them he is for sure. I will never recommend someone to call them.
11 months agoSent Peterson Hudson Hdwe. Plumbing & Heating an email at 2:00am on a Monday. I got a call that morning from Jeremy. He offered to come take a look at my furnace & found a time that we could work out the next day. Jeremy came over that morning, reviewed my unit & explained to me some of the functions, what to look out for, parts to keep in mind, & general maintence advice, all while he was doing maintenence! Very kind, timely, & knowledgeable. I would 100/10 recommend this business!

Before you even pick up the phone, we’ve already called to confirm that a qualified technician is available to handle your specific drain emergency right now. This saves you the frustration of calling multiple shops only to hear they are weeks out. Whether it's a backup in a historic home near Highland or a slow drain in a newer build near Sunnyside, we ensure you get connected with a pro who is ready to work immediately.
Common Drain Issues in Waterloo, Iowa
Waterloo's older neighborhoods often feature clay sewer pipes that are prone to tree root intrusion. As the large maples and oaks in established areas grow, their roots seek out moisture, often cracking pipes and causing major main line backups that require professional snaking or hydro-jetting.
With the Cedar River running through the heart of the city, high water tables during rainy seasons can put extra pressure on basement floor drains. When the ground is saturated, even a minor clog in your home's internal plumbing can lead to messy sewage backups in lower levels that require immediate attention.
Many Waterloo homes still utilize older galvanized piping, which is notorious for internal corrosion. Over decades, the interior diameter of these pipes narrows due to sediment buildup, leading to frequent slow drains in kitchen sinks and tubs that standard hardware store chemicals simply cannot resolve.
Iowa winters are harsh, and when temperatures drop well below zero in the Cedar Valley, grease and fat inside kitchen drains solidify much faster. This leads to stubborn clogs in the pipes that catch food particles, eventually causing a total blockage that requires professional high-pressure cleaning to restore flow.
Seasonal Drain Maintenance Tips for Waterloo, Iowa
Spring: Check your basement floor drains and sump pump discharge lines after the Iowa snowmelt. Clearing debris now prevents backup during the heavy spring thunderstorms typical in Waterloo.
Summer: With increased outdoor activity and garden hose use, ensure your outdoor drains and catch basins are clear of grass clippings and silt to prevent localized flooding around your foundation.
Fall: As the leaves drop across Black Hawk County, ensure your gutters and downspouts are clear. Clogged exterior drainage can lead to water pooling near your basement walls, which puts unnecessary stress on your interior drain system.
Winter: Avoid pouring any fats or oils down the drain during the holiday season. The extreme Iowa cold makes these substances harden instantly in your exterior sewer lines, leading to emergency backups.
Average Drain Cleaning Costs in Waterloo, Iowa
Pricing in Waterloo varies based on the severity of the clog and the equipment required. A simple sink snaking usually falls on the lower end, while main sewer line clearing or hydro-jetting to remove tree roots from older clay pipes will be higher.
Frequently Asked Questions about Drain Cleaning in Waterloo, Iowa
How quickly can I get a drain cleaner to my home in Waterloo?
Because we call and verify availability in your specific Waterloo zip code before connecting you, we often find pros who can offer same-day service, even during busy seasons in the Cedar Valley.
Do Waterloo plumbers handle tree root issues in sewer lines?
Yes, many of the specialists in our network use specialized augers and hydro-jetting equipment specifically designed to clear the heavy root growth common in Waterloo's older, tree-lined neighborhoods.

Absolutely. We filter for 24/7 availability and verify that the technician can actually respond to your Waterloo location before you ever pick up the phone.
Why is my basement drain backing up after a heavy Iowa rain?
