The worst company. Workers came to clear pipes. Cost me thousands because the experienced workers claimed my drain pipe was charged with electric charge.. told my wife not to touch the sink bc she could die then left the job The pipe is PVC...... That should tell you all you need to know. The first PVC pipe in history to hold electric charge.

Roto-Rooter might be a big brand, but the experience of dealing with Kyle and Melissa was anything but the impersonal corporate nightmare I've come to expect. Kyle provided his rates, weekend surcharge, and service guarantee up front and without any b.s., which is more than i can say for some other top rated companies in the area. Wow. Garrett is AWESOME. We first met him when he came out to help us with a drain pipe that kept backing up. He re-engineered it so it'd be less likely to clog and put in a cleanout. We had him come back to provide a roof vent for the drain, too -- solving a problem introduced by our original plumber. When we heard that he also did NG work, we were thrilled. He just finished plumbing our new NG grill and an outdoor fire bowl. He's professional, communicative, timely, and affable. You won't find a better person to work on your plumbing or heating!

So glad I hired Blue Jay Plumbing to take care of a clogged toilet drain. Had called several places and found that the some plumbers who advertise this service don’t actually do this service so I was really happy to find out that Blue Jay was fully ready to handle the job. Since this wasn’t an emergency situation, we were able to wait a few days for them to fit us into their already very busy schedule. The young man who arrived, went straight to work taking care of the problem, which required removal of the toilet and reseating after the clog was cleared. He was knowledgeable, professional, efficient, polite and personable. Garrett has been so awesome while dealing with a tankless water heater issue (came with the house). With many trips to our house to troubleshoot, Garrett had a positive attitude and he was communicative. As a stressed homeowner, contractor vibes can make or break a relationship. Garrett's vibes were positive and collaborative. We ended up going the traditional water heater route with a quick turn around time. Halco did a project at my home to fill in an old pool with gravel. They did an excellent job! A very big thank you to the two guys that were here to drain the pool, pick up the gravel (took several loads) and move the gravel with a bob cat to fill in the pool. Ian was simply excellent. Very easy to work with and was able to work around some of the things happening at my home. He stayed on task and really cleaned out the duct work efficiently. I couldn't believe how much he got out! This is in addition to my review. The installation of the actual heat pump went seamlessly. Caleb and his partner worked non-stop for 3 days to get everything put together and tested. I was very, very impressed with the workmanship. They really paid attention to details and appearance. Just excellent work. I would highly recommend halco.

Shelby was great. She was scheduled to perform a routine annual maintenance. I have had my heat pump since April of 2022. It is a ducted air sourced heat pump. The best takeaway I learned from Shelby is a question I asked her about why I must set the thermostat up to 72 or 73 degrees to feel comfortable with the heat pump, but when using propane, 70 degrees was adequate. She reminded me of my public-school science lessons concerning burning fuel. Burning wood, natural gas or propane creates water vapor, and that water vapor hods heat. Heat pumps don’t combust fuel for its heat so the air it circulates will not contain warm moist air. It will contain cooler drier air. That explains why in the earlier winters when I had my heat pump, I was never satisfied with setting the thermostat at 70 degrees. I intuitively set it at 72 or 73 degrees and grumbled about the thermostat being inaccurate. Shelby told me, “Don’t look at the digits on the thermostat, instead set it to what feels good.”

If I could give a zero star rating I would. Called with an emergency drain backup flooding the basement. Dispatcher was very pleasant. The plumber on call did not call and so I called the dispatcher back 40 minutes later. The plumber finally called. He sounded drunk and said it was too cold to go out. So much for 24/7 emergency service. 🙁

Dylan from Donahue-Halverson recommended Drain Brain to me. On Saturday, July 5th, I called at 12PM. By 2PM, Tom, from Drain Brain fixed the problem. They quoted me $550 plus tax before they came and that was how much I paid. It was a clog between my house and the street that took a snake of about 60 feet. They were excellent. I don't know if the price was reasonable or not , but it was in the middle of a holiday weekend, and they were willing to come immediately (someone else quoted me a holiday rate of $400 just to show up). I was really happy with the service. Would definitely use them again.

The tale of two plumbers and services. The contrast between Auchinachie plumbing and Drain Brain, Ithaca. Both plumbers were on time. Both were courteous and respectful to myself and my home. Here lies the difference. The plumber from Auchinachie identified the issue, which was in the line connecting my Home to the sewer. The conversation led to the park which my home is in should be responsible for this issue. We tried calling the parks office, but due to issues with their cable and phone service we could not get through. The young man went on to explained that for this drain to be cleaned out, it would be well over $800 at which my son who was on the phone, got very upset and thought that was an outrageous amount of money which upset the plumber because he felt my son was accusing him of price gouging me because I was a senior. To calm tensions, I just said I was going to get a second opinion. At that time I was told that they would never come back to my home again. We shook hands and I said thank you. Let me introduce you to Mike Mike from Drain Brain. He goes out assesses the situation with the same conclusion only he told me he sees that the drain is has a huge blockage. That it is the park’s responsibility. I told him we could not get in contact with the park because their phone lines were out he went down to the park office himself and spoke to the staff and got the maintenance man up here to fix the problem for me without any mention of money. Out of both plumbing services I think you can find which one you would want to come to your house to rescue you when you have a dire situation as a senior I couldn’t be more grateful to Mike and drain brain for their service their compassion and let me tell you if he had to Snake my system. It would’ve cost $295 a big difference from starting price of $830 you come to your own conclusion I’ve come to mine thank you Mike. You are truly my hero, PJ 🚗

Dale was the BEST, single-handedly replacing all of our ancient drain pipes. He’s a hard worker, knowledgeable, and left our basement cleaner than before he started. Kudos also to John and Trent who replaced our water heater within three hours of our service call. Great guys!

Our company Valor Healthcare, have use you previously in our Tompkins VA clinic at the Cayuga center. today requesting service for a back up toilet in our clinic, I encounter questioning by your receptionist who denied the schedule of a plumber unless the call was made by the property itself. We are a VA private clinic servicing Veterans and we have a facilities person (me) to arrange all facilities needs in the country for those clinics. We are not a 3rd party vendor and do not see the reason why that was assumed or that will scare you if it was. you definitely have us in your system they are just too slow or did not want to check. your dispatcher team is not aware of some of the commercial needs by some of the locals in the area. I do not know if my accent gave it away. We are deleting your vendor account from our records to avoid wasting time giving you a call in the future and avoid this expectations. The Drain Brain is coming to take care of us. Share this with your receptionist team and the person in the back giving her instructions.

At a time when good service and/or a nice disposition is exceedingly rare, I appreciate and admire Donohue Halverson’s commitment to excellence. John Ross, the plumber who provided service, has been to our property on a couple of occasions, and in each occasion he has been punctual, extremely pleasant and friendly, and expert in is his abilities. He is always willing to answer all questions related to the specific job or other plumbing matters. He works with careful speed. He has never had to return to redo a job. I cannot recommend Donohue Halverson highly enough. They exceed expectations and are beyond reproach.

A backed up kitchen sink had me frustrated, but their specialists fixed it in one visit. The technician cleared grease buildup and flushed the line. It drains like new now. Awesome work.

Cortland Plumbers replaced the old shutoff valves in my bathroom. The tech tested each valve, ensured smooth operation and explained their function clearly. This technician was very thorough.

A small leak developed on the water line to the utility sink. The technician they sent replaced the damaged pipe section, sealed all fittings and ran a test. No leaks remain and the sink works perfectly.

Promised they would give me an estimate for some pretty expensive work I was prepared to pay for even if it was only an afternoon's work. Three weeks and roughly 7 phone calls later. I haven’t heard anything from them. I really wanted to use these guys with the rating they have. No one ever entered my property. I have video cameras and no one ever answers the phone. No idea how they would know they don’t want the job.

Called them all the way from Atlanta to help service a family member who is a local. Awesome work. I spoke with Maurice and all I can say is he kept it professional and made me feel like family. Would recommend anyone to don't hesitate, GIVE HIM A CALL NOW!! the work was outstanding and will be looking to use your service again in the future. THANKS again!!

Update: I was going to delete this, but I think it’s better that I leave the original review up to show that the company is responsible and cares about its work. After, getting in contact with Maurice, they sent out an excellent (different) team of workers to fix my ceiling and I can’t even tell that it had ever been worked on. They were communicative and professional. Now, I understand why they got so many good reviews. They earned them and the latter work was more indicative of that. I’m not sure what happened initially, but I’m glad that they took responsibility for it and fixed the problem. I wouldn’t hesitate to hire them again. See a before and after photo below. OLD REVIEW:These guys are shady. I hired them to repair some drywall. The price was high, but they were nearby, and they said they could start the next day, so I was like fine. Let’s get it going. They did a really shoddy job on the drywall. Left spaces of over an inch in some places. The tape fell off after they left the first round. Fell off! In addition, I’ve been waiting over a week for them to come finish the job. I’ve called and they don’t pick up. They did not, however, hesitate to cash my check without the job even being finished. If you look at all their positive reviews, they all occur within the same 2 or 3 week period. Nothing really in the last couple months. It’s a scam job for sure. Reviews don’t occur like that. I’m still waiting for them to come and finish the job. One week and counting. I’ve called the last two days in a row and they don’t even pick up the phone.
