We had another great experience with Drain Tech Company. Eli has been to our home before, and once again he exceeded expectations. We were having an issue with our main drain line in the basement leading out to our septic tank. Eli immediately diagnosed the problem and knew exactly what needed to be done. He was friendly, highly knowledgeable, and took the time to explain every step of the process. He offered clear guidance on the best solution, which we approved, and then completed the job efficiently and professionally. What really stood out was his attention to detail and respect for our home. He carefully removed and reinstalled the toilet, laid down towels, and kept everything clean throughout the entire repair. When he finished, everything was working perfectly and the area was spotless. Eli is a true model of excellent customer service. A++ all the way. We highly recommend Drain Tech Company and will absolutely continue to use them in the future.

We had a slow drain and needed to have the line snaked. A friend recommended Drain Tech and we could not be more pleased with the level of service start to finish. I was able to make an appointment for the next day. Our tech, Jonny, was friendly, professional, knowledgeable and worked efficiently while explaining the process at each step. The price was also reasonable for the work done. I highly recommend Drain Tech .

We had a slow, clogged garage sink, and also needed our sewer line checked. I called Drain Tech yesterday, and was able to get this scheduled first thing this morning! John came out right on time. He was polite, thorough, and did a great job! He explained all the details to make sure we understood what he'd be doing, and recommended some optional future services. We've had Drain Tech out to work on other drains in the past, and have always been very satisfied. I highly recommend John, and Drain Tech!

We were experiencing an issue with our four year old tankless water heater. The code said it had a venting issue. Before reaching out to a company, I performed some simple tasks to ensure proper venting, but the problem persisted. We would still get hot water; the unit would shutdown/reset intermittently and water would go cold. An annoyance, but still needed to be rectified. As I was looking for a company to call to look at the water heater, I didn’t want to use a “jack of all trades” company due to poor experiences with them professionally. They seemed to be more interested in the upsell than just performing the needed task and preying on the vulnerabilities of customers. When I came across Mike Bachman Plumbing I was excited to see that not only were they just plumbers, but they also specialized in tankless water heaters. I called dispatch who was very friendly. She informed me of the dispatch price and that if the tech needed to do any work that it would be discussed at the appointment. I was also able to secure a next day appointment. I was out of town so my wife was taking care of the appointment. The tech happened to come while she was gone picking up one of our children from school so my older child let the tech in to get started. Shortly after the arrival, I received a phone call from the tech explaining that the dispatch fee was in addition to another fee that was based on the presumed difficulty in troubleshooting the unit. This added about three times the dispatch fee and the tech would not touch the unit until agreement to make this payment was made. Shortly into the conversation my wife returned home and agreed feeling a little trapped since he was already there. The unit was not a brand that this company installs and the tech was up front that he wasn’t familiar with it. He spent the next hour and a half or so performing some of the same simple tasks that I had already done among others and talking on the phone and seeming generally unsure of what to do with the unit. Once, he finished with what he felt like he could do, he indicated he would need to call the manufacturer on a different date and that would cost an hourly rate that may or may not resolve the issue or we could have them install a new tankless water heater. The tech also told us the unit was junk anyway and a new unit would be advisable. Upon the tech leaving I was left with a water heater that now wasn’t working at all with no hope of getting it working, a much larger than expected bill, and a quote for a new unit. I was at a loss for where to go next. I am a fairly mechanical individual so I thought maybe I can replace the unit myself. I researched the water heater they wanted to put in and found it to be a third of what they were going to charge for install. At that point I knew I wasn’t going to use them for installation because they had just turned it the “jack of all trades” type of company and wanted to upsell me. In the end I would never recommend Mike Bachman plumbing due to misleading house call fees, lack of knowledge unless it is familiar equipment, and preying on vulnerabilities of customers. *Update: No call yesterday for anyone who may have been wondering. **Update: I did receive a call the next day and talked with Vic. I explained my experience as described above and he was very nice and apologetic. He worked to make things as right as possible. Doesn’t change what happened, but I can appreciate the integrity of a company willing to own mistakes and strive to make things right for the customer.

So happy with the service I received! Dispatch was able to come give an estimate and do the work on the same day I called. She worked to keep the cost down and affordable, they both were so friendly, and they explained everything they were doing. I would highly recommend Mike Bachman and I will use them again for any future needs.

Made an appointment to repair leak from bottom of toilet. Very pleasant service man arrived on time. We were unable to demonstrate the leak! He examined the base of the toilet where we had observed water leakage for the past several days. But no trace of water leak could be detected. Therefore no attempt to perform any repair. The $79 service charge seemed a bit high, considering that he was only in our house about 20 minutes. But he was very pleasant and courteous and we have no criticism of him. I imagine that a service charge of $79 is probably pretty standard these days.

I cannot recommend this plumbing service enough. Kevin and Josh went above and beyond to fix my sink and made sure the issue was fully resolved — not just patched up. He took the time to explain what went wrong, how he fixed it, and what he did to make sure it won’t happen again. Professional, thorough, and genuinely cared about doing the job right. I’m so grateful and will absolutely use them again in the future.

If you’re looking for a plumber this is it! I had low water pressure and had called another company. They came and couldn’t fix my problem telling me I needed to spend 24k on new pipes. Luckily a friend told me about Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. Josh and Kevin came out and fixed my problem easily! They were prompt, professional, and charged me next to nothing for their services! I highly recommend! I will never go anywhere else!

I chose Knighton Plumbing based on recommendations that they're honest, even though their prices are on the higher end—I'm happy to pay more to support a trustworthy business. I called Thursday morning with a mainline backup, meaning no showers, toilets, laundry, or dishwasher use. They couldn't come until Friday, which I accepted. Friday morning, I called for an ETA, only to learn they'd canceled my appointment entirely (no reschedule) to handle an emergency for a large client (Salt Lake Airport). They didn't offer evening Friday or Saturday service—just canceled. I ended up waiting until Monday for another plumber (from another company), adding three more days without any water use in the house. I understand prioritizing major clients, but abruptly dropping a residential customer in a true emergency isn't acceptable. They should have made it work, even if late Friday or early Saturday. While I appreciate the honesty reputation, I strongly advise against calling them for anything urgent.

Jason saved us and our house with a weekend water heater repair! We noticed the bottom of our water heater rusted out late Friday night. We were worried we would have to wait until Monday to get it repaired but Jason was at our house Saturday morning to replace it! We were grateful that he was willing to come so quickly on a weekend so we could avoid any flooding. The repairs were great, Jason explained everything to us and the pricing was upfront and honest. Would definitely recommend Jason and Knighton Plumbing!

Great first experience with Knighton Plumbing. Had a Friday night water heater disaster. Was worried I’d have to wait until Monday. Called at 8am on Saturday and Tanner was here at 10am. He was professional, very considerate of his wet feet (raining hard outside) which I really appreciated, his workspace was tidy, and the finished product was great. Pricing was reasonable. We replaced our other water heater 2.5 years ago. Knighton was a better price. These days, you never know what you’re going to get with contractors (of any trade). In Knighton, I just found my trusted, go-to plumber.

Common Drain Issues in Ogden, Utah

Hard Water Mineral Buildup: Ogden and the surrounding Weber County area are notorious for hard water. Over time, calcium and magnesium deposits create 'scale' inside your pipes, narrowing the passage and making it easier for hair and soap scum to cause stubborn backups that standard plungers can't fix.

Historic Pipe Corrosion: In Ogden’s more established neighborhoods, many homes still utilize original cast iron or even clay sewer pipes. These aging materials are prone to interior rusting and scaling, which creates a rough surface that catches debris, eventually leading to a complete blockage that requires professional hydro-jetting.

Tree Root Intrusion: With the beautiful, mature trees that line the streets of East Central Ogden comes the risk of root intrusion. Roots seek out the moisture in your sewer lines, entering through small cracks and growing into thick blockages that can cause basement backups and slow drains throughout the entire house.

Kitchen Grease in Cold Climates: During our cold Utah winters, grease and fats poured down the drain solidify much faster. Even small amounts of cooking oil can catch on the interior of your pipes in the sub-freezing temperatures, creating 'fatbergs' that require professional equipment to break loose and flush out.

Seasonal Drain Maintenance Tips for Ogden, Utah

Prepare for the Snowmelt: Before the spring runoff begins in the Wasatch Mountains, ensure your basement floor drains are clear. Heavy snowmelt can put extra pressure on Ogden's sewer system, and you want your home's internal drainage to be at 100% capacity.

Winterize Your Exterior Drains: As temperatures drop in Weber County, ensure that any outdoor drains or yard grates are cleared of fall leaves. This prevents ice dams from forming, which can cause water to back up toward your foundation during a mid-winter thaw.

Holiday Drain Care: With Ogden's strong community and family culture, kitchens get a workout during the holidays. Avoid putting fibrous scraps like potato peels or celery down the disposal, as these are the leading cause of emergency calls during the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons.

Fall Gutter and Downspout Check: Ensure your downspouts are directing water at least 5 to 10 feet away from your home. Clogged exterior perimeter drains can lead to hydrostatic pressure, causing issues with your interior basement drainage tiles.

Average Drain Cleaning Costs in Ogden, Utah

$125-$450

The cost of drain cleaning in Ogden typically ranges based on the severity and location of the clog. A simple sink or shower snaking is on the lower end, while main sewer line clearing or hydro-jetting for tree roots falls on the higher end.

Frequently Asked Questions about Drain Cleaning in Ogden, Utah

How quickly can I get a plumber to my home in Ogden?

Because we call and verify availability specifically within your Ogden zip code before connecting you, we can often find a technician who can arrive within 2 to 4 hours of your request.

Does the hard water in Weber County affect how often I need drain cleaning?

Yes, Ogden's hard water contributes to mineral scaling. If you notice white crusty buildup on your faucets, your pipes likely have it too, which may require professional descaling or more frequent cleaning to prevent clogs.

Are your Ogden plumbers equipped to handle tree root issues?

Absolutely. We verify that the plumbers in our network have the necessary equipment, such as heavy-duty augers or hydro-jetting machines, to handle the root intrusions common in older Ogden neighborhoods.

Do you offer emergency 24/7 drain cleaning in Ogden?

Yes. Our service is designed to find plumbers who are available right now, including nights, weekends, and holidays, specifically filtering for those who offer 24-hour emergency responses in the 84401, 84403, and 84404 areas.

What is the most common cause of clogged drains in Ogden?

In Ogden, it is a combination of mineral scale from hard water and aging sewer lines in the city's historic districts. These two factors often work together to trap hair, grease, and paper products more easily than newer PVC piping.
