Top Rated Plumbers in Norfolk
Powell's Plumbing & Air
1111 Boissevain Ave, Norfolk, VA 23507, USA
(757) 801-2290Highly recommend Powells (formally Norfolk, plumbing). I had a clogged kitchen sink that was slow draining for a month. I tried every product on the market & tried to snake it (all Unsuccessfully). After washing dishes in the bathtub for a few weeks, (too busy & hoping it would magically just get better (haha), the final straw was when my washer overflowed from the drain tube going into wall, All over my laundry floor. I needed someone to rescue me. I called Powells per many great recommendations by a client, NextDoor & google and made an appointment. They came out the very next day. The guys (Wes & Jason) got everything fixed in a few hours. They were knowledgeable & professional. I felt like the price was fair, and I did not feel taken advantage of. I would definitely use them again in the future. It was about $800 for snake of main line and washer and sink lines as well as installing a new/additional 2 way cleanout under the house. Original quote was $400 but once they got into it , it required much more work and more hours. Thanks Wes & Jason. I have peace of mind now!! Worth every penny! And that kind of work is Gross!! Lol Well deserved $
3 months agoAbsolute lifesaver! Came home from vacation to half of our home flooded with waste water. I was terrified it was a septic issue and couldn't be quickly resolved, I also had an inkling that a lot of the plumbing, electrical, additions, etc weren't exactly to code and thus could not be fixed. We were told they couldnt arrive for 3 days, but ended up coming a day sooner. They resolved it within a few hours! And when the backup reached the addition and flooded our laundry room, they were able to come the next day to inspect and had the supplies and repair done the day after! And the technician/plumber was an absolute peach! His name is Weston and I felt completely safe having him in my home. No bad vibes whatsoever and he was so easy to talk to. I cant speak to the price, as our landlord paid for it, but really any price was worth the service in my opinion. Really helped us in a pinch.

2 weeks agoAll Day Plumbing
847 Seahawk Cir #104, Virginia Beach, VA 23452, USA
(757) 512-6071Sewer main line was clogged and All Day responded very quickly. Unfortunately I didn’t have a clean out but Antonio and Ethan installed one, unclogged the line, and buttoned everything up in less than 3 hours. They were professional and took the time to explain my options as well as what they were doing. Thanks
1 month agoTaieon and Antonio truly went above and beyond installing my water heater. They were very respectful, professional, and communicated openly the entire time. I really appreciated how they took the time to explain everything and make sure I understood the system. They even removed an old heater that had been sitting there since I bought the home. Their care, work ethic, and integrity stood out. Moving forward, I would be happy to have either Taieon or Antonio handle any plumbing work in my home. Thank you both — I’m truly grateful to have hot water again!
1 month agoRockie came over quickly after having worked an already busy day. He promptly found the source of our emergency plumbing issues & fixed everything within 2 hours. Fair pricing and exceptional service! Thank you for all of the help.

3 months agoI had Chris Pugh come out this evening at 11:45pm on a Saturday for an emergency call, he was here within 15 minutes of getting the call. He was extremely helpful, respectful, and knowledgeable. We had moved into a new apartment first day and all the toilets had backed up along with the shower drain. He got everything taken care of in about an hour, (which was awesome). He explained the process of what we had happen and how he resolved it. Overall 10/10 experience. Great work, very respectful, and and the when all was said and done you wouldn’t know someone had done any work, very clean.
3 years agoI had to call after hours for an urgent issue, and I was really impressed with their quick response. 6 months agoA1 Sewer & Drain Plumbing & Water Heaters
516 S Military Hwy, Virginia Beach, VA 23464, USA
(757) 505-7165From the moment Jarrod walked through the door I knew I was in good hands. He is very knowledgeable and explained clearly to me what the issues were. When he came back to do my tankless hot water heater install he even remembered my dog’s name and brought him a dog treat! He wastes no time and did great work in a very tight space. I was blown away by this man’s knowledge; he knows his job, he knows the equipment he is installing. This was a complex two man install and he did it by himself effortlessly. On time, professional, answered all of my questions, and did incredible work. If you want exceptional quality and excellence without compromise, ask for Jarrod from A1 sewer & drain. Jarrod made me an A1 customer for life.
3 weeks agoA1 knows good people and hires them. Mike from A1 came out to my old brick home with the iron pipes underneath and replaced J pipe underneath the sewer line and replaced all the iron underneath the toilet with PVC and did a great job. It was unbelievable how bad a house built in 1960 would be with all that wrought iron underneath, but it’s all sealed and a very conscientious way. Very happy with Mike’s work and I am very happy that A1 sewage and drain has dependable people like that. Price was reasonable, and the job was done in a matter of time that was needed without rushing and doing it right.
4 months agoGreat experience all around. Found a leak in my kitchen ceiling after getting out of the shower after work at 1am tuesday morning, I live in a 3 story townhouse and the bathroom is above the kitchen. Called shortly after finding the leak and was connected to a tech James who agreed to come out Wednesday at 830 am. Once James arrived, he was quickly able to diagnose the issue of being a leaking pipe. A quick time later, he had it fixed, at which point I asked about a few other issues I was noticing, i.e., a small leak coming from my toilet. Again, he found the issue fast, plus he found out the water line was also an issue besides the wax ring. All said and done James arrived at 830, due to no fault of his own, and was finished by 1030am, that's including having to run to the hardware store for a wax ring. This company goes above and beyond to make sure it's customer's are happy and that all work is completed in a timely fashion. God willing nothing bad happens in the future, but if it does I know who I'm going to call to fix it.
4 months agoJim Bertolino & Son Plumbing and Drain Service Inc.
3419 Virginia Beach Blvd #187, Virginia Beach, VA 23452, USA
(757) 340-2040Jim is a godsend--he does great quality work and it is absolutely worth it to schedule with him. He came out to fix a leak caused by an old shower drain. We trust him completely to fix our plumbing issues and he always upgrades things for the better for years to come--he's extremely thorough in his diagnosis and checks to ensure the plumbing is secure and fixed. In addition, he is an amazing advocate when handling an insurance claim--originally we were told they would not cover the full extent of the repair, but this changed after the agent talked with Jim. As a homeowner, Jim has always educated us on what the problem is, what he's doing, and explains everything thoroughly so that you are well-informed throughout the entire process! We love Jim!
2 years agoOur Water heater had expired unexpectedly and Jim Bertolino & Son Plumbing and Drain Service Inc. thankfully came to our rescue 😅. They were incredibly expedient & knowledgeable and had an old water heater taken out and exchanged for a new and upgraded one in one business day. They explained the entire process in laments terms with over 40 years + of experience to easily put my family and I at ease during what would have been other wise a stressful time. I am a lifelong customer for sure.
2 years agoJim did an amazing job on our water heater! He was fast and clean. I would highly recommend Jim and his crew to come change out an old water heater with a new one and will utilize his services again in the future. Thank you Jim for your services!
1 year agoPrecision Plumbing & Drain Cleaning
820 Greenbrier Cir Ste 14, Chesapeake, VA 23320, USA
(757) 546-3914The water in our shower wasn’t draining and the toilets were gurgling while the shower was on. We have family staying with us and more on the way, so it was essential for us to have our plumbing issue fixed ASAP. Larry Ables recommended we contact Precision Plumbing and Drain Cleaning. Precision was able to help us the same day we called. The two men they sent were professional and were able to fix our issue promptly. We were happy with the work and the price was very reasonable. Thank you, Precision!
2 months agoWe had an outstanding experience with Precision plumbing from start to finish. They responded quickly, arrived right on time, and took the time to clearly explain the issue and our repair options before starting any work. The technician was professional, respectful of our home, and completed the job efficiently with excellent craftsmanship. It’s rare to find a company that combines honesty, skill, and top-notch customer service so well—we will absolutely call them again and highly recommend them to anyone needing reliable plumbing services.
2 weeks agoWe called Precision Plumbing during an extremely cold week and they were very busy with frozen pipes and such. They were still very prompt with scheduling us. The communication was fantastic between the office as well as the service department. Wonderful customer service !! Will definitely use them again and would highly recommend.
2 weeks agoDrain Masters Plumbing
1804 Pittsburg Landing, Virginia Beach, VA 23464, USA
(757) 481-5894Trevor was great to work with. He came out to check our hot water heater and took his time explaining what he was seeing, showed us photos, and made thoughtful recommendations without any pressure. He also gave helpful advice on flushing the system to keep it running well. While he was here, we asked if he could take a look at an old faucet that ended up being a real pain to remove, but he stuck with it and handled everything professionally. Super respectful, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. You can tell he cares about doing the job right, and his company should be proud to have him. 🫡 BTW Drain Masters came out when no one had openings today! thanks!! because I leave to go out of town tomorrow 😅 I will be calling Drain Masters Plumbing for future projects
3 weeks agoRyan from DrainMasters was extremely professional and courteous. He installed our new sink and toilet quickly and did a great job. Very friendly and respectful throughout the whole process. Highly recommend his services!
2 months agoRyan does amazing work! And he’s very strong. I was so impressed. Not just by his work but his personality and love for his job. I will definitely use the company in the future and request to work with him every time. This man deserves a raise. Big time!!!
1 month agoPower Plumbing LLC
2141 Chesapeake Dr, Chesapeake, VA 23324, USA
(757) 372-5145Needed an internal (condo unit) water main gate valve to be replaced, which required water to be shut off to the compound and drained. No worries (second set of plumbers) – able to isolate and drain buildings well ahead of forecasted (costed) time. Should have been a “simple” sweat out, sweat in replacement. Technician seemed confident. First pass – water leaks everywhere, bad solder joints. Second attempt worse. Third and subsequent attempts started looking like a toddler playing with Lincoln Logs. Bottom line – water is flowing again, after at least 7 repair attempts. Called Power Plumbing – “if you’re not satisfied, we’d be happy to come back out and redo it”. It would take cutting out more drywall, baseboard, and more of the original copper piping and replace with Pex and Pro Pex fittings, all outside of original quote. Guess I’ll button up the drywall, but not before potential customers can see their workmanship.
1 week agoI had a frozen pipe under my house that burst during the sudden winter weather. After Joe came out on an emergency call to make an initial assessment, Dominic and Rashard came out to fix the issue. Service from all 3 was incredibly fast and friendly. Its clear that they are all knowledgeable and care about the work they do. I did not get the name of the lady I spoke to when I called, but she provided excellent service and advice. Going forward, this will be my company of choice for any plumbing needs.
3 weeks agoDominic, the plumber is awesome!!! He's professional, polite, and very knowledgable. They respond quickly and come at all hours. I highly recommend Power Plumbing. Use them! You'll be glad you did!
1 month agoMr. Rooter Plumbing of Virginia Beach
101 Malibu Dr, Virginia Beach, VA 23452, USA
(757) 694-4625Had my sewer line replaced from the house to the city sewer pipe. This company knows what they are doing. They took pictures throughout the process to show me what was done. They attached a wire to the new line for easy tracking for any future repairs to the property. They made sure that the pipe was set at the proper grade by using a level throughout the installation. They replaced an exposed section of the water line at no cost.
6 months agoGreat work and great customer service! The Service technician on call, Bradley, was great! Well trained and well organized. Got the problem fixed in no time. His service manager was great too! Will recommend to everyone i know! Thank you again.
3 weeks agoPaul and Bradley were exceptional in fixing a water leak in our toilet. They were very clear on the various ways they could fix the issue and what to expect for the price of repair. They were kind, respectful, approachable, and easy to work with and talk to. I didn’t feel as if they were taking advantage of me in their work or cost of repair that I have experienced in the past with plumbers. The office staff was great and very transparent in their communication with scheduling, professionalism, and kindness over the phone (particularly Katie). Would 100% call again in the future should we need pumping services again.
1 month agoAtomic Plumbing & Drain Cleaning Corporation
1377 London Bridge Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23453, USA
(757) 448-3620I called Atomic to help locate the sewer lateral in our front yard so we could safely grind a tree stump (we had a sneaking suspicion it was very close to the tree stump; suspicion confirmed). Atomic was upfront about the cost/hour and the anticipated time it would take. Trey and Josh were professional, efficient, and timely. Highly recommended.
3 months ago11/18/25 update: We had a small leak under the sink. Call Atomic told them the situation and again very happy with them they did an excellent job. When I called they explain they will come out check out what is happening and we could go from there. Yes the leak was very small and I really did not know where it was coming from but when the technician came out he found the problem and yes they fixed it and did an excellent job. Today 11/23/25 and we have check under the sink and it is good to go. Again I mush say thank you to Atomic Plumbing for a great job and to the tech for a great job. I submitted a service request for a leak under my sink on Sunday afternoon, 11/09/2025. Later that evening, I received a call to schedule the appointment. In my request, I asked for service on Tuesday since I was already off work, and the young lady on the phone confirmed that was perfectly fine—they would be working on the holiday. At 8:00 Tuesday morning, I received a text with the service technician’s name and employee number, and he arrived shortly afterward. Mr. Michael Casey was very polite and courteous. He evaluated the issue and told me he would step out to his van to prepare a quote. We haven’t used many plumbers over the years, but I felt his quote was very reasonable for the work needed. I approved the job and asked him to replace both the hot and cold shut-off valves. I must say, in all the years we’ve used Atomic Plumbing, they have always provided excellent service and fair pricing. I will continue to highly recommend this company to anyone in the area. I am attaching before and after photos—the “before” picture isn’t very clear, but the “after” picture is much better, as I wanted to show the excellent work Mr. Casey completed. He also took the time to explain everything he did. Thank you for your work, Mr. Casey.
3 months agoAtomic Plumbing’s customer service is outstanding. We noticed our water heater was not working around 9pm on a Friday. I called, service scheduled, and the install of a new water heater was completed by 11 am Saturday. Kimberly, who scheduled the service and Mike Casey and Dalton, the installers should be commended for their timely, professional, and efficient response. If you want it done right - go with Atomic Plumbing !!!
3 months agoProfessional Drain Cleaning in Norfolk
Norfolk’s unique coastal geography and historic neighborhoods like Ghent and Colonial Place mean that plumbing systems here face specific challenges. From aging clay pipes to the high water table near the Elizabeth River, a clogged drain is more than just an inconvenience; it can be a localized emergency that threatens your property. Finding a reliable plumber who is actually available when you need them shouldn't be a secondary chore. Our specialized service takes the guesswork out of home maintenance in the Mermaid City. Instead of you calling through a list of businesses only to find they are booked up, we proactively scan our network of certified Norfolk professionals. We filter by your specific zip code and personally verify their 24-hour availability, ensuring the technician we send is ready to handle your specific drain blockage immediately.
Common Drain Issues in Norfolk
Historic Pipe Degradation: Many homes in Norfolk’s older districts feature original cast iron or clay pipes. Over decades, these materials are prone to heavy scaling and tree root intrusion, leading to stubborn blockages that standard retail drain cleaners can't touch.
Sandy Soil Shifting: The sandy coastal soil characteristic of the Hampton Roads area can shift over time, especially during heavy rain seasons. This often causes 'bellies' or low spots in sewer lines that collect debris and grease, leading to frequent backups.
High-Density Drainage Stress: With the significant military presence near Naval Station Norfolk and high-density housing, local drains often face heavy usage. This leads to accelerated buildup of hair, soap scum, and cooking grease that requires professional-grade snaking or hydro-jetting.
Stormwater Pressure: Norfolk’s low elevation and tidal flooding can put immense pressure on domestic sewer lines. During heavy Virginia storms, slow drains are a common symptom of a system struggling to keep up with both groundwater and household waste.
Seasonal Drain Maintenance Tips for Norfolk
Spring Maintenance: Clear all outdoor area drains of oak tassels and spring debris to prevent standing water from backing up into your foundation during Norfolk's rainy season.
Summer Beach Cleanup: If you spend time at Ocean View or Willoughby Spit, ensure you rinse sand off at an outdoor station. Sand is incredibly heavy and can settle in your indoor P-traps, causing difficult-to-remove clogs.
Fall Leaf Prevention: Ensure your external sewer cleanout cap is secure and that gutters are clear. Fallen leaves entering your drainage system can lead to significant main line obstructions as the weather cools.
Winter Pipe Protection: Norfolk occasionally sees deep freezes. Insulate pipes in crawlspaces to prevent freezing, as frozen debris is more likely to snag and create a total blockage during the winter months.
Average Drain Cleaning Costs in Norfolk
Prices in Norfolk typically range based on the severity of the clog and the equipment required. A simple sink snaking is on the lower end, while main line clearing or hydro-jetting for historic homes falls on the higher end.
Frequently Asked Questions about Drain Cleaning in Norfolk
Why are my drains slow after a heavy Norfolk rainstorm?
In coastal areas like Norfolk, heavy rain can saturate the sandy soil and put pressure on the city's sewer system. This can cause back-pressure in your home's lines, making drains move slower than usual.
Do you service all zip codes in Norfolk?
Yes, we filter through our network to find certified plumbers covering every corner of Norfolk, from Willoughby Spit and Ocean View down to Berkley and Bromley.
How fast can a plumber arrive at my home in Ghent or Larchmont?
Because we verify 24-hour availability and call the plumber first, we can usually find a professional who is ready to head to your Norfolk location immediately, reducing your wait time significantly.
Are the plumbers in your network familiar with older Norfolk plumbing?
Absolutely. We prioritize Norfolk-based professionals who have extensive experience with the historic clay and cast iron pipes commonly found in the city's older residential districts.
What is the most common cause of sewer backups in Norfolk?
Aside from grease, tree root intrusion from Norfolk’s mature oak and crepe myrtle trees is a primary cause of main sewer line blockages throughout the Hampton Roads area.
