Top Rated Plumbers in Charlottesville, Virginia
absolute plumbing & drain cleaning services inc
24 7th St NE, Charlottesville, VA 22902, USA
(434) 260-8504Absolute Plumbing inspected our septic system within minutes of calling them on a Saturday evening due to our septic alarm going off. They cleaned our aerator which was clogged up and even waived the service fee. We will definitely be using Absolute Plumbing for all of our septic servicing!
10 months agoI go down to the basement and notice that it is very wet down there but no puddles. Next child is now in the shower and I am watching water come up out of the basement drain - my septic is over flowing. I called a rooter company and they came out, dug up my front yard and pumped my tank, filled the hole and went no further with any kind of diagnostic before telling me that my entire system needs replaced and it was going to be in the $20k range. My yard was left a hot mess after they were done, requiring a weekend to level the area and lay seed and straw - I needed a second opinion. Absolute Plumbing came out and, unlike the other company, they actually took the time to inspect my system to discover that my distribution tank was sludged up and not allowing flow into the drain field. They dug up and replaced the distribution tank (because it was also breaking down) and confirmed my drain field was fine. They even let me see the finished work after the tank was installed. During the whole process they demonstrated that they were there to do the job right. They were professional and communicated with me throughout the entirety of the job. Once they were complete they made sure that my yard was in good order, the dirt was packed down nicely, my driveway swept clean and they even put down seed and straw. God forbid I have any more issues in the future, but I will be a returning customer should that be the case.
4 years agoI called Absolute on the recommendation of my real estate agent to get a septic tank pumping and inspection. The tank had not been pumped in a long time, so there was a sludge buildup on the bottom, but they took the necessary time to backwash and to loosen and remove all the sludge and to clean out the tank properly. The cost was quite reasonable.
6 years agoVirginia Plumbing Systems, Ltd.
35 Burns Plaza Suite 428, Palmyra, VA 22963, USA
(434) 589-3461THE BEST plumbing company in the area! Trey (the owner) and his team were absolutely outstanding. Punctual, knowledgeable, honest, and friendly - Trey went so far above and beyond the call of duty for me to ensure everything was done correctly. We recently purchased an older "flipped" home, and what started out as what we thought was a simple clogged drain line to our septic tank unfortunately turned out to be a discovery that our drain line was incorrectly installed by the previous owner/flipper (insufficient slope from the house to the septic, coupled with improper base underneath the pipe for solid foundation, led to numerous bellies in our line). Trey and his team identified the issue, and were able to promptly (and properly) install a new drain line to our septic. Trey is not just a plumber, he is a miracle worker who goes far above and beyond the minimum service to ensure (1) the job is done right, and (2) the customer is 100% satisfied. If, you're reading this Trey, thank you again! You have a customer for life, and I'm telling everyone about you. Happy to have met you!
2 years agoIf I could I would give this company MORE than 5 stars!! Trey has been AMAZING!! He is helped us out of a bind twice now!! Their work is phenomenal, customer service and care EVEN BETTER!! Highly Highly recommend these guys!!
7 months agoRecently had two Kohler bathroom faucets replaced, and they did a fantastic job. I highly recommend them for any plumbing issues.
9 months agoRogers Plumbing
1414 Monticello Rd, Charlottesville, VA 22902, USA
(434) 242-22206am, we woke up to a burst Quest pipe in the office of our historic home (plaster ceiling, walls). We hired Rogers Plumbing to replace all of the lines throughout the home with PEX. During the process, Dave checked in with us so we knew what was happening and what to expect along the way. Since then, we have had Dave replace three toilets in our home, fix the kitchen sink, and replace a drain pipe that rusted out under the floorboards of our kitchen. Attached are a few photos that show the flooding when the Quest pipe broke in the office and the completed look of the project as well as a few valves Dave installed so we could quickly shut off the water to our home if we ever need to in the future. For anyone that appreciates a job completed correctly, on time, and with clear communication, you would be lucky to hire Rogers Plumbing. Highly recommend. A+
2 years agoGREAT! Rogers Plumbing is great. An independent plumber, not a big corporation; I like that and try to support independent businesses when possible. And Dave was terrific. Arrived on time, had all the parts needed in his truck, took care of the flushing mechanism problem in a heartbeat, and his fee was super reasonable. Perfect! 5 stars!
9 months agoDave is the best plumber I've ever worked with. He did a complete re-plumbing of my old house. He showed up for a consultation, provided me a fair written estimate, scheduled the job, and then showed up to do it. This alone is worthy of 5 stars in today's world, but there's more. Dave is courteous, diligent, communicative, timely and very competent. It was a pleasure watching him tear my house apart (normally an unnerving event) and upgrading the entire plumbing and waste systems. I would recommend Dave for any major plumbing job and would gladly hire him again.

(434) 589-3461The VBS team came to our rescue when we had a non-working septic assist pump. If you’re looking for prompt, courtesy, and thorough service this company is for you. Had us up and running with a new and improved pump and even went the extra mile to make sure everything was tested and cleaned up. Can’t recommend VBS any more highly.
9 months agoI was very pleased with the service I received from VPS. I would recommend them and use them again in the future . Thank you foryour prompt and reliable service.
3 months agoOur tankless water heater sprang a leak in January and Virginia Plumbing Systems came to our rescue after three other companies faltered. The owner went the extra mile to find a replacement and get it installed as soon as possible. He was sympathetic to our plight and came to personally assist his technician in completing the installation on Friday afternoon so we would have hot water before the weekend.
2 years agoRoto-Rooter Plumbing & Drain Services
64 New Life Dr APT A, Ruckersville, VA 22968, USA
(434) 202-5963Over the past couple of years, I have engaged Roto-Rooter on four separate occasions, during which they replaced both the sump pump and the control box. During the most recent service, I was advised by their technicians to contact an electrician to address electrical issues related to the septic system. Upon doing so, my electrician was informed by Roto-Rooter that the pump installed was a 220-volt pump and had been wired incorrectly. However, after further investigation, my electrician determined that the pump was actually a 110-volt pump. This miscommunication could have destroyed the pump, and I would have been expected to replace it at my own expense. To ensure proper wiring, I repeatedly requested the make and model of the pump — a unit I purchased and own. Roto-Rooter refused to provide this information, and I was never given any documentation regarding the pump or control box they installed. As a result of their refusal, I was left without a functioning septic system for over a week. Furthermore, Roto-Rooter threatened to void my warranty if my electrician touched any part of the system. Ultimately, my electrician had to physically remove the pump from the septic tank to obtain the model number and ensure proper wiring. I find it unacceptable that Roto-Rooter withheld critical product information and failed to cooperate in resolving a serious issue affecting my home: * Withholding product documentation for items installed in a customer’s home * Refusing to collaborate with licensed professionals to resolve service issues * Threatening to void warranties under unreasonable circumstances
8 months agoWe had an emergency drain issue late on a Saturday afternoon and reached out to four different companies. Roto-Rooter was the only one able to respond promptly—arriving just 45 minutes after our 4:30 PM call. Brooks, our technician, quickly resolved the immediate problem and even uncovered some underlying issues we hadn’t been aware of. Fast, efficient, and thorough service when we needed it most.
8 months agoI have used Roto Rooter on numerous occasions for my rental property and the service has always been excellent. The appointments are scheduled quickly and Will showed up on time. Will is also very knowledgeable and does a great job of explaining the problem. He has replaced a water heater, repaired a leaking shower valve, fixed our well pressure tank and changed out our water filters. If I have a plumbing issue, Roto Rooter is who I will call. I know some reviews mention price, but you get what you pay for. The quick and accurate service is valuable, and I think their pricing is very reasonable. Highly recommend Roto Rooter.
7 months agoThe Otter Guys Heating, Air Conditioning, Plumbing
1224 Monticello Rd, Charlottesville, VA 22902, USA
(434) 216-6166Our HVAC system went out on the coldest day of the year following a snowstorm. The customer service associate at The Otter Guys was very friendly and helpful. Due to the weather, the best projection was two days. She kept in contact with me and was able to schedule Andrew to assess our system. Andrew was very professional and walked me through the issue. Due to the extent of the repair, we decided to purchase a new system. Andrew presented multiple options and worked with us to stay our price range. Great first impression!
4 months agoNathan was very friendly and helpful explaining with a Picture recap on his Tablet of everything he tested. The office customer service was friendly and helpful setting up the appointment and they had no problem getting me on the schedule one day out.
5 months agoCalled the otter guys to get an estimate on duct cleaning. While scheduling, also set up a maintenance schedule for our business for the future. The free estimate for the duct cleaning was scheduled for the next day. Kenny and Caleb were AWESOME! While they were at the office, I expressed a smell that was coming from one of our closets. Not only did they find it was coming from insulation behind our HVAC unit, they removed it! They were only supposed to be here for the estimate. Pricing for the maintenance schedule is very reasonable! We will be using Otter Guys for any of our plumbing and HVAC needs! Highly recommend!

2131 Berkmar Dr, Charlottesville, VA 22901, USA
(434) 973-4348I had a wonderful experience with Robertson electric. Willy was my technician. I was looking for a level 2 EV charger installation, more specifically a 14-50 plug for the charger. He helped with the estimate, he was flexible when my plans changed (the plug moving to the side of the house). He was lightning fast today! Also he helped me unpack and put together the charger (I had left it in the box). I am so wowed by this lovely experience.

4 months agoMichael & Son Services
8553 Seminole Trail, Ruckersville, VA 22968, USA
(434) 331-9610KevinG was very personable even though my 2 frenchies bombarded him with the need of pats when he first arrived 🫠 Was showing connection by talking to me about his dog (which made things less awkward when you have someone you don’t personally know inside your home). Was respectful by wearing booties (tons of snow out there) and walked me through the things he was doing with doing the inspection of my HVAC system. On top of that, was efficient so he was in and out in a timely manner which meant I didn’t have to wait around all day. Yay Kevin! Also, had JasonH doing my electrical inspection and again- so accommodating with my questions. He also brought treats for my dogs! He was very knowledgeable and did some upgrades to make sure this solo lady didn’t have to worry about my electrical going on the fritz. He was also wearing booties to protect my floors and was efficient in what needed to be done so I didn’t have to be in my house waiting around all day. He also talked to me about animals and was very outgoing/ personable. Yay Jason! Also- Michael & Son being so awesome to have both systems serviced at the same time! I have a hectic, busy schedule so doing them simultaneously was such a win for me!

Common Drain Issues in Charlottesville, Virginia
Historic Pipe Scaling: Many homes near the University of Virginia and the Martha Jefferson area feature aging cast iron or clay pipes. Over decades, these pipes develop internal scaling and rust that snag debris, leading to frequent and frustrating kitchen and bathroom backups.
Blue Ridge Root Intrusion: Charlottesville’s lush canopy of oaks and maples is beautiful, but their roots are drawn to the moisture in your sewer lines. Root infiltration is a primary cause of major main-line blockages throughout Albemarle County, often requiring professional hydro-jetting to clear.
Red Clay Soil Shifting: Virginia’s signature red clay can expand and contract significantly with the seasons. This ground movement can cause 'bellies' or offsets in underground drain lines, leading to standing water and recurring clogs that traditional snaking can't fix.
Hard Water Buildup: Depending on your specific location in the Charlottesville area, mineral-heavy water can lead to calcium deposits inside your drainage system. These deposits narrow the diameter of your pipes over time, making them significantly more prone to catching hair and soap scum.
Seasonal Drain Maintenance Tips for Charlottesville, Virginia
Spring Preparation: After the winter thaw, check your basement floor drains for any signs of slow drainage. Heavy spring rains in Central Virginia can quickly overwhelm a partially blocked system, leading to localized flooding.
Summer Disposal Care: With summer hosting and garden harvests in full swing, avoid putting fibrous vegetables like corn husks or celery down your disposal. These can easily tangle in Charlottesville's older plumbing systems.
Autumn Leaf Management: Ensure that outdoor area drains and gutter downspouts are clear of fallen leaves. In wooded Charlottesville neighborhoods, leaf buildup can cause water to back up into your home's foundation or basement drains.
Winter Pipe Protection: Before the first hard freeze from the Blue Ridge, ensure your outdoor spigots are disconnected and internal pipes in unheated crawlspaces are insulated. This prevents the cracks and bursts that lead to emergency drainage repairs come springtime.
Average Drain Cleaning Costs in Charlottesville, Virginia
Typical costs in Charlottesville reflect the local labor market and the complexity of the job. A simple sink snake starts lower, while main line clearing or camera inspections for historic properties fall on the higher end.
