Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup
304 S Belt Hwy B, St Joseph, MO 64506, USA
(816) 246-2132Buyer beware. Overall a very frustrating experience and a lack of professionalism. I think we would have been fine with our original tech, but as soon as they involved their mitigation team, it felt like a game of manipulation, lies and then just ignore the crazy customer until he goes away. First, we were concerned about a backed up pipe. Tech did great unblocking it. In the process we noticed a leak coming from upstairs. Turns out our toilet was leaking. He reset the toilet and charged almost $450 for it, but called in mitigation due to subfloor damage from the leak. Salesman, Nick P, from mitigation lied straight up. Said we didn't have to do anything. He sat on our couch, trying to promote to me a book he wrote, telling us we did not have to do anything along the way. I should have known better when he used the phrase, "We will get paid regardless" when I asked about what happens if the insurance denied the claim. He said he would represent us with our adjuster, and he assured us he was on our side, etc. Well, he went on vacation the next day and left no one for us to contact. He did in fairness say he had a vacation coming, but also told us to call him when our adjuster called. He of course didn't answer. The mitigation team were nice and tried to overcome some of our frustrations, but they lost us when they failed to explain how it would work, and failed to pull their equipment (milking time $) when it should have been pulled. Their guys they sent to test for moisture were taking a reading off a piece of wood that clearly had rot and that was all that was left for moisture. Yet they kept their equipment extra days for this piece of wood we knew would have to be replaced. They were trying to dry out a single piece of wood that had obvious rot and was not gonna dry out. They ripped out the toilet the tech just set in and charged $450 to fix. They even billed us for ripping it out! They moved several items in our basement and piled them in a room that we couldn't then get into after as they piled stuff by the door. Their team lead kept whispering when I was nearby which gave me the idea they were trying to hide something. I got fed up and wanted it all out. The leak ruined our water heater so it had to be replaced. We asked the same good tech to come back out. A couple thousand dollars later, it was done. Except, he forgot to turn the gas back on to our heater. Temps dropped that night to 28 degrees outside and our house temp was 58 degrees when I woke up freezing. My young son and wife were both shivering in their bed. I groggily had to try to turn the valve back on in the middle of the night without the right tool - a dangerous option if you are not trained or used to doing this (valve had no handle on it and was positioned toward the heater so I had limited space). I almost broke the connection pulling too hard. Ultimately it took about 45 mins to get back on. When I text the tech the next day, he admitted he also forgot to secure our water shut off as well. All he would say is "Whoops, sorry." Then, we get our bill for over $10k. After already paying almost $5k. Not only was stuff not taken care of, (leak was two places), we were threatened in the email that we had to have it paid within 30 days or risk issues. I questioned some of the charges, including being charged to remove a toilet we already paid to be fixed by them less then 48 hours before but I got no response. One of these supervisors even tried to friend me on Facebook - seriously. Why? We got the insurance check and paid them today. Thought about posting all the images, recordings, texts and emails, but ultimately I am tired. The story is enough. I believe this is one of those companies that has systemic issues. They were terrible communicators and exagerators to us, that ultimately once they got paid they were done. Looking at their reviews & hearing so many others, tell us we were dumb to hire them is confusing for sure. They are paid off and will never be used by us again. I will forever relay our story to anyone who will listen.
3 months agoSam from Roto-Rooter was the ABSOLUTE BEST. We have a complicated sewage “grinder” that had to be installed because the builder built the foundation too low. It is basically an “up flush” and most plumbers do not have a damn clue. Well the alarm went off which means something is wrong and Sam got out here and fixed it NO PROBLEM and the price was extremely reasonable. SAM IS NOW “OUR GUY” and this is incredibly important to have him. He’s just a GOOD MAN too, a person anybody would like to call a friend. Now he is our friend. THANKS SAM AND ROTO-ROOTER.
3 months agoJames was ourTechnician, He did a great job! Was very thorough and very polite and professional. I am definitely gonna have more of my plumbing issues handled with them! Highly recommend!
6 months agoRon's Plumbing - Water, Sewer, & Drain Cleaning
106 Hwy 71 N, Savannah, MO 64485, USA
(816) 344-6567I really appreciated Ron's Plumbing coming out today to fix our drain issue. The water in our rental's basement was 3-5 inches deep and there was sewage mixed in...yuck! I called Roto-Rooter's first and the guy was unwilling to fix the issue with the "interesting" plumbing that was currently available. Ron was more than willing to work with what we had and not only cleared the line of tree roots but got the water and gunk all cleared up. I really appreciated that he and his brother took the time to really explain to me what was going on, what needed to happen on this visit, and what they would recommend to be changed in the future to prevent it from happening again. 5 stars and will definitely call them again!
2 years agoRon and his brother Robert helped us fix an issue that we had been dealing with for a long time. They walked us through the process, patiently answered our many questions, advocated for us, were fair in their pricing, and fixed our very big sewer issue very quickly. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars. I would highly recommend Ron's Plumbing in Savannah, MO.

(816) 281-5127Kyle an Gabe did a great job. The process was explained to us and after a couple of minor glitches, when they were done…everything turned on. It was a nice day so they could work outside without difficulty and we didn’t get cold. All in all …no problems while they were here…and none since. Oh…and they didn’t even scare our cats….
2 months agoPaschal delivered excellent service. Our technician, Casey, arrived right on time and immediately made a great impression—he introduced himself, shared his HVAC experience, and took a moment to learn how we heard about Paschal. He diagnosed and fixed our HVAC issue very quickly and explained everything clearly. Casey also went over the benefits of Paschal’s preventative maintenance program without any pressure. Overall, a professional, friendly, and efficient experience. Highly recommend Paschal for reliable HVAC, Plumbing, or Electrical service and repair.
5 months agoI really enjoyed the map that shows where the technician is in relation to my house. So I knew exactly how far away he was. I also liked the photo that the company sent me so I knew what he would look like. He was very cordial and did an excellent job keeping me informed of what happening. I am very pleased with my experience with the company and the technician.

11 months agoCitywide Plumbing
307 S 9th St, St Joseph, MO 64501, USA
(816) 390-2005Two days before Thanksgiving, the plumber from Citywide fixed our old plumbing so that he could install our new dishwasher. Additionally, he fixed a pressure issue with the hot water, and replaced some drain pipe that had become an issue. He did this in half of an afternoon, and was a super friendly guy. He left the work area clean, and everything was leak free. They will DEFINITELY be the folks I call with any future plumbing needs. I highly recommend them.
6 months agoCitywide is great. Robbie did some work replacing some old kitchen sink pipes and came out a couple more times to make sure the job was done right and we had zero leaks. Thank you and keep up the great work!
5 months agoCalled mid day by 5 pm they were here working on the issue. Had to replace the water heater and by the next day at 9am they were here and out in under 2 hours GREAT service
5 months agoS & S Plumbing Repair LLC
1528 Mitchell Ave, St Joseph, MO 64503, USA
(816) 617-2501The repair men were very nice. With that said for a 1/2 hour of work I was charged $395 to repair one pipe that was leaking and replace the drain in the tub. They were here for approximately 1/2 hours. I did see the package the plug came in and it had a new face plate which they kept. He had the receipt from Menard's upside down in his clip board so I could not see the price they paid. I went to the website and found it. The plug was $12.45. This seemed very expensive but I was in a situation where Paschal Plumbing told me I needed a new hot water heater and wanted $2200. So I thought who can I trust? A lot of companies are going to get whatever they can out of you. But they did tell me I did not need a hot water tank replaced. I did tell the repairman I lived on SSI thinking this would get me a discount. It did not.
10 months agoCould've been much better. Most contract workers tell you what's wrong, quote you a price, and you make the decision. They just automatically did the work and charged us over $600. I don't care if it's 2025, that's an outrageous price! And the problems not even completely fixed. I'm hesitant to call them back. We want them to complete the job and fix the problem fully... but we're afraid we'll get charged an exuberant amount again, which we can't afford.
11 months agoS&S Plumbing was quick, efficient, and reliable. They showed up on time, worked professionally, and got the job done right the first time. Highly recommend!

6 years agoProfessional Drain Cleaning in St. Joseph, Missouri
St. Joseph is a city built on history, from the legacy of the Pony Express to the beautiful historic architecture in Museum Hill. However, historical charm often comes with aging plumbing systems that are prone to stubborn clogs and root intrusions. Navigating the local plumbing market can be overwhelming, especially when you have a backed-up sink or a basement floor drain overflowing during a Missouri storm.
That’s where we come in. Instead of you calling down a list of names and hoping someone is free, we take the lead. We scan our network of certified plumbers throughout Buchanan County, filtering specifically by your St. Joe zip code. We even call them ourselves to confirm they have the equipment and the availability to reach your home today, ensuring you get the fastest possible relief for your plumbing emergencies.
Common Drain Issues in St. Joseph, Missouri
Aging Clay Pipes in Historic Districts: Many older St. Joseph neighborhoods still rely on original clay sewer lines. Over time, these pipes can shift or crack, allowing tree roots to penetrate the line and cause recurring backups that a simple plunger cannot fix.
Missouri River Silt and Sediment: Homes located closer to the Missouri River often deal with high water tables and fine sediment. This can lead to heavy buildup in basement floor drains, which are essential for preventing flooding during heavy Midwestern rainstorms.
Grease and Fat Buildup in Local Kitchens: Whether you're prepping a big meal after a trip to the St. Jo Frontier Casino or just cooking for the family, grease often finds its way down the drain. In the cold Missouri winters, this grease solidifies quickly, creating stubborn blockages that completely halt your kitchen activity.
Hard Water Scale: Like much of the Midwest, St. Joseph water can be hard. Over time, mineral deposits build up inside your pipes, narrowing the passage for water and making it easier for hair and soap scum to snag and create a major blockage.
Seasonal Drain Maintenance Tips for St. Joseph, Missouri
Spring Thaw Prep: As the ground thaws in St. Joe, check your basement floor drains. Ensure they are clear of debris so they can handle the increased runoff from spring rains and melting snow.
Fall Leaf Management: Before the first freeze, make sure your outdoor drains and gutters are clear. Leaves from St. Joseph’s many mature oak and maple trees can easily clog external drainage systems, leading to foundation issues.
Winter Pipe Protection: With Missouri temperatures often dropping below freezing, ensure your indoor plumbing is kept warm. A slow-draining pipe is more likely to freeze solid, so address any sluggish drains before the deep freeze hits in January.
Summer Roots: Tree roots are most active in the summer as they seek out moisture. If you notice gurgling sounds in your toilets during the hot July months, it’s a sign that roots may be invading your sewer line.
Average Drain Cleaning Costs in St. Joseph, Missouri
Pricing in St. Joseph varies based on the severity of the clog, the location of the pipe (indoor vs. main sewer line), and whether hydro-jetting or specialized camera inspections are required.
