When our main sewer line backed up, BP Wastewater came out the same day for a weekend emergency call. From the operator to the technician, everyone was professional and knowledgeable. Ryan was thorough, thoughtful, and determined to fix the issue, clearly explaining potential risks along the way. Hopefully I won’t need them again anytime soon but I’d absolutely recommend BP Wastewater.

Called for a plugged kitchen sink, and got very quick response. There had been a cancelation, so a tech was at our house within 2 hours. The clog was stubborn, but Corey stuck with it, and got the pipe cleared. Thanks for a great result. I felt the price was a bit steep, but for the fast service, can't really complain. Thanks Corey!

Main drain line in house clogged. Sewage backed up. Dispatcher was efficient, kept us informed of TOA and price estimate. Technician David (Kentucky) called before arriving on time, was polite and professional. Successfully completed the job quickly (on a Saturday night!) and was very personable. Very happy with the experience and will definitely recommend RR to others. I think this was a Burlington/South Burlington Vt. based shop. Thanks!

When our water heater sprang a leak my wife and I bought a new one, but quickly realized the plumbing would need a professional redo. David "Kentucky" came out on a Sunday, arriving exactly when he said he would, and got the job done quickly and professionally. Great, quality service. Highly recommended.

DO NOT HIRE STAN! This guy is a snake oil salesman and is not a licensed plumber. Read the Yelp reviews. He destroyed my bathroom and first floor with a simple bathroom vanity install. Professionalism: The moment Stanley walked into my house he was criticizing anything his beady little eyes touched – from the fixtures we’ve chosen to the paint colors in the house to the painters we chose to paint the house (they were there working on the house simultaneously. He would go from bathroom to bathroom commenting on what needed to be changed and had a reason why. Timeline: We hired Stanley to install a vanity (the old vanity was already taken out). It took him 5 days to install the vanity. 1 guy quit on him on the job – and even called him a thief in the process. Stan also complained how this was such a big job and there were so many connections. Quality: Abysmal. He never connected the drain pipe so all of the water from the vanity was draining into my first floor ceiling and subsequently down into the basement. I needed to hire a real licensed plumber to come to my house and fix Stanley’s job. Additionally I needed to hire a contractor to fix the sheet rock that was damaged from the flooding. DO NOT HIRE PLUMB PERFECT! You’ll get ripped off and will need to hire a licensed professional to come back and fix his mess.

Stan isn’t licensed(found this out today unfortunately). His rates are outrageous for sub par work. Billed out 6 hours to connect sink drain to the wall and the 2 water lines. He had 1-2 hours on site, the other 4 hours were back and forth to store because he couldn’t get it right the first, second, or third trip. Installed a sink in our rental. Also tried to tell me that he need power cord for dishwasher, when I knew it wasn’t needed as personally installed the power cord. He questioned me about it being there as he “didn’t see”. Left the place a mess with cuttings and shaving and pipe pieces all over. I showed up to check things out, turned the faucet on and the drain leaked instantly. So figured we’d check other things, glad we did as we found he never tightened the discharge hose from dishwasher to the drain. Glad we caught that, or could have had more water issues. My partner mentioned to him about finding the clamp not being tightened and his response was: “oh you saw that?. Trying to save others from this business.

If I ever had one piece of advice it would be to NEVER hire Stan. Stay far away from Plumb perfect. Stan not only created a flood in my house but he left in the middle of it. I am so grateful someone in my unit noticed he left and I was able to get him to come back. After he stoped the flood and he left again without going over his work with me. When I went up to my shower there was a hole and no shower handle. Both were left on the ground. Horrified I called him and asked him to put the shower back how he found it. He told me I was wasting his time. On top of this if he ever did show for his appointment he was late and most of the time he never showed up. He also charged me $550 before ever fixing anything. All he did was cause a flood that he never even apologized for. Stan is also very rude, he was not only awful to me but my mother as well. After refusing to work with Stan anymore I hired Falcon plumbing and WOW they were amazing. They came and fixed the same problem Stan had been working on over the course of months in a matter of 30 minutes and only charged me $250 for everything. Please never hire Stan. He is a scammer and has no idea how to be a plumber. He is also NOT LICENSED. STAY FAR AWAY.

What a phenomenal job they did with a completely backed up bathroom we had in our mobile home. It took a while but they didn’t give up and they were able to clear the clog that had been there for a while. I can’t be more thankful and his prices are more than reasonable. Don’t waste money on the other guy, If you want honest and quality service, call Bo’s sewer and Drain service. I’m glad we did.

Our basement toilet and shower backed-up. After hours of trying to snake the drains myself (with no success) I decided to call Bo's. He was very prompt and was able to immediately identify where the issue was and auger the drain with success. He was very personable, and cleaned the shower area a bit afterwards...which was much more than I would have expected. I'm glad we went with a locally owned company like Bo's, and would recommend to anyone needing timely and competent services.

my maternal aunt Patricia and her husband David MacDonnell lived on this property from the mid 1980s to the early 1990s. I'm 44yo now and some of my brightest, most cherished childhood memories are of summers at this place. running through the field and swimming in the pool that once existed slightly northeast of the garage (the eastern side of which was personally extended by my uncle David circa late 80s) the house was built in 1888. as a child there I experienced several paranormal occurrences. my name whispered while alone. palpable presences, etc....once, while playing in the basement with my sister and cousins, an unseen pair of hands held me by the shoulders and prevented me from running with the rest. my aunt hated doing laundry down there but would never tell us kids why hehe anyways...thank you for tolerating my nostalgic rambling here in the reviews section. I was just looking for old times sake and decided to drop this little piece here. I am glad to see that the property is still occupied and well-maintained and I hope you and your business thrive for many years to come ✌🏼️💯✨ thank you and have a wonderful day up there in beautiful Vermont where I wish I was

I had pleasant time working with Ryan and Dillion on replacing my Pressure Reducing Valve. Both Ryan and Dillion were approachable and friendly. They were very knowledgeable in the work needed to get done. The price was reasonable with how much the average the repair would cost. I was surprised getting a Text message with images of whom was coming, that helps with introduction and putting names to faces. There was however a small hiccup with the scheduling for my first appointment, however, everything worked itself out. I'm leaving it as a 4-star due to still waiting on a full itemized recipe for the service. Will change it to 5 upon receiving it.

Pros: Call the Whale's technicians were top notch. Competent, kind, willing to answer all of my questions and walk me through their process. They didn't stretch for unnecessary work. I liked how they showed me the price ahead of time for their proposed work. I asked for a general cleaning but the tech told me I didn't need it and didn't want to charge me for unnecessary work. Cons: There were a few communication bumps along the way. I think at times there was too much communication. Phone call, text, and email and then more emails asking for reviews. I don't appreciate how seemily new and flashy their work vans are. It tells me a higher portion of my bill is going to overhead/marketing, but that is being picky. Timeline: I called at 6am and was greeted by their off hours receptionist service. The same day I got a call back stating a technician would be there the following day for a diagnosis. The next day the tech arrived and ordered the part. Three days later I was called and told I was scheduled for work 2 days after that. They were one of the only services who 1) were taking new clients and 2) were able to show up in a reasonable amount of time. Thank you for maintaining my system.

Call the Whale was quick to get in contact after I reached out for a quote. We had Ryan stop by to look at several projects, and he was vrry frienfly and extremely knowledgeable. Ryan explained the type of work needed very clearly and easily--which also says a huge positive since someone non-tech savvy like me could fully keep up! Ryan was also able to tell almost immediately what the problem with our furnace is--which has been an issue we've been working with another local company to fix to no avail for the last 5 weeks. I'll update again after the work is complete, but so far I have full confidence in the quality of work to be carried out. Full shower and sink fixings replacements for around 2k seems reasonable as this is extensive enough work to require opening a wall to replace interior valves (will fix a water leak). Furnace fix price is great and the work should be fairly easy. Also a bonus feature from CtW was to include a pic of the technician stopping by in advance; great for safety!

Professional Drain Cleaning in Burlington, Vermont

Burlington’s unique mix of historic charm in the Hill Section and modern lakeside living means plumbing systems vary wildly from one street to the next. Whether you're dealing with a slow sink in a Victorian-era home or a stubborn backup near the UVM campus, finding a plumber who is actually available when you need them can be a major headache. That’s where our specialized service steps in to bridge the gap.

Our system takes the guesswork out of emergency plumbing in the Queen City. We don't just provide a list of names; we actively filter our database by your specific Burlington zip code and personally call the plumbers to confirm they are ready to head to your door right now. From the South End to the New North End, we make sure you get the fastest possible resolution to your drain problems without the frustration of ringing multiple busy offices.

Common Drain Issues in Burlington, Vermont

Many Burlington homes, particularly near Church Street and the Old North End, still feature original clay or cast-iron pipes. These materials are highly prone to scaling and tree root intrusion, leading to persistent clogs that simple DIY fixes can't touch.

Burlington is famous for its beautiful canopy, but those roots love the moisture in your sewer line. In neighborhoods like the Five Sisters, aggressive root growth can crack pipes and cause massive backups, often requiring professional hydro-jetting to clear effectively.

With Burlington’s proximity to Lake Champlain and the high water table in certain lakeside areas, heavy rains can stress older sewer systems. This often leads to floor drain backups in basements, requiring immediate professional clearing to prevent water damage.

Vermont’s groundwater can be mineral-heavy, leading to significant hard water buildup. Over time, calcium and magnesium deposits narrow the passage inside your drains, making it much easier for hair and soap scum to create a complete and frustrating blockage.

Seasonal Drain Maintenance Tips for Burlington, Vermont

As the Vermont foliage turns, ensure your outdoor drains and gutters are clear. Burlington’s heavy leaf fall can easily clog exterior perimeter drains, leading to basement seepage during the autumn rains.

Burlington winters are brutal, and frozen waste lines can expand and crack. Before the first deep freeze, ensure any exposed drain pipes in crawlspaces are properly insulated to prevent a messy disaster during the spring thaw.

When the snowpack melts off the Green Mountains and into the city, check your sump pump and basement floor drains. The sudden influx of meltwater can overwhelm a sluggish drain system, so early spring is the best time for a preventative cleaning.

During summer barbecue season in the South End, never pour fats or oils down the kitchen sink. Burlington’s cool ground temperatures can cause grease to solidify rapidly in your pipes, creating 'fatbergs' that require professional equipment to remove.

Average Drain Cleaning Costs in Burlington, Vermont

$175-$450

Prices in Burlington vary based on the severity of the clog, the location of the blockage (main line vs. secondary sink), and whether emergency after-hours labor is required.

Frequently Asked Questions about Drain Cleaning in Burlington, Vermont

How fast can I get a plumber in the New North End?

By using our zip code filtering and live verification, we typically find a verified Burlington technician who can arrive within a few hours, even in residential areas further from the downtown core.

Do Burlington plumbers offer hydro-jetting for tree roots?

Yes, several of our verified professionals in the Burlington network specialize in high-pressure hydro-jetting, which is essential for the root-heavy areas near the lake and older historic neighborhoods.

Are your services available on weekends near UVM?

Absolutely. We verify 24-hour availability across our network, so whether it's a Saturday night or a holiday, we'll find a Burlington pro who is actually on call and ready to work.

Will extreme cold weather affect my drain cleaning service?

While sub-zero Vermont temperatures make the job harder, our local Burlington plumbers are equipped with specialized gear to clear drains and thaw lines even in the middle of a brutal winter.

How do I know if my Burlington home has old clay pipes?

If your home was built before the 1950s, there's a high chance. Our matched plumbers can perform a camera inspection to verify your pipe material and its current condition before recommending a fix.
