This was my first experience with Drain Fighter. James responded to my Yelp request right away. He communicated clearly and with urgency over the phone and handled my job the same day, within a few hours on a Saturday. Other companies were not as fast to respond and were not as straightforward. When he arrived he was courteous and did the job effectively and quickly. I also appreciated that he gave me a fair price. I can see why his company has such great reviews. I will definitely be calling him for my next job. I would highly recommend his services.

We had a nasty sewer pipe blockage that was causing a real headache. From the moment I called, they were responsive, understanding, and scheduled a service appointment quickly on the same day! The technician was fantastic. They arrived on time, were incredibly professional and courteous, and clearly explained the issue and the steps they would take to resolve it. What impressed me most was their thoroughness – they didn't just clear the immediate blockage, but also took the time to inspect the pipes to ensure there weren't any underlying problems. I just left my sisters house in DC where James did some work to repair a cracked expansion tank. The insurance adjuster had already been to the property, had the damage assessed by a professional and authorized my choice to use The Drain Fighter; James and another gentleman came to do the repairs. My sister has had 2 other assessments since the repair. Both assessed that the water heater was damaged in the process of repairing the expansion tank because it wasn’t damaged prior to the expansion tank repair as noted in the insurance assessment. I heard this from the new plumber myself!! It looks like tiny holes were drilled or something in the water heater but we couldn’t see them until the new plumber showed us!! To be honest after completing the $350 expansion tank job, my sister was informed by James that the job was completed he then said “but you need a water tank” he offered to install a water tank for $2,100 !!! But here is the issue the tank had no problems no damage before he installed a new expansion tank! Water is coming from the pipe from the hot water heater to the new expansion tank . So she had to turn the water off until it is fixed. My sister texted to complain we have copies of the text and have submitted a complaint to BBB, FTC and we are now on to a massive social media complaint with pictures!! This is horrible .

Edit: Thank you for the response. However, you seem to imply that is fine for commercial vehicles to block protected bike lanes for business-related reasons. There is no such proviso in DC law. This particular lane is blocked almost constantly by various delivery trucks and other commercial vehicles when other parking options exist nearby (albeit perhaps not as convenient). This is not what it is there for. Cyclists have been injured and even killed in the course of maneuvering around commercial vehicles blocking bike lanes, which is why it is illegal regardless of whether the driver is on-the-job or not. Unless the situation is an emergency and no other parking options exist, there should be no reason for your drivers to endanger or even inconvenience other road users. Happy to adjust the rating if we are on the same page on this. It is dangerous and disrespectful for vehicles to block protected bike lanes. These lanes exist to safeguard the safety of DC commuters, not for the convenience of truck drivers.

This was our first time using the Emerald Plumbing Co. We had our septic tank flushed and 2 risers installed. They did a fantastic job! They were on time and the cleaned up after the job was done. The cost was a little higher than we thought, but it was worth it.

Scam – Avoid at All Costs!!!!!! In response to their reply below. I cannot believe they DARE TO lie in their reply below! They never sent any soil report proposal. They lied I refused to pay for it!!!! Again! Be extremely careful to deal with this company!!!!! Do you own due diligence!!! Bunch of liars!! NOT KNOWING WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!!! I contacted this company about installing a new septic system. Initially, they told me I needed a soil report. They charged $150 to come to the property and provide an estimate. After paying the $150, they said a camera inspection was required and charged me another $750. I paid that as well. Then they requested $4,250 for excavation. When I spoke with them again and clarified that I only needed a new system installed, they said excavation was not necessary and went back to saying I needed a soil report.I agreed. After Waited another week with no update, I called in only to be informed that they were not even licensed to perform the required work — despite the fact that I provided the property address on day one. It has now been three months, and I have received nothing: no soil report, no inspection video, no documentation — nothing at all. I wasted three months with zero results. Throughout this entire process, I called weekly for updates. Each time, I was promised a callback for update. Most of of the time there is no update. Instead, they kept making up stories and cheating for more money Do not waste your time or your money with this company!!!!

I like services that explain the problem. They showed what caused the clog and how the plumbing repair fixed it. Honest and efficient work.

I ordered a new washer and dryer but couldn’t have them installed because the existing shut-off valves were corroded. Pierre came out to assess the situation and provided several options with clear pricing. He arrived on time, was professional, and extremely knowledgeable. He took the time to explain everything in detail—what he was doing, the updated plumbing codes, why larger commercial companies often charge much more, and why emergency services are usually scheduled on weekends. By the time he left, I felt completely confident in the work and the service provided. Pierre installed new shut-off valves so the water to the entire home no longer needs to be turned off, and he properly secured the drainage pipe to the wall, including fixing issues hidden behind the drywall that hadn’t been secured by the previous homeowner. He was also able to install both my washer and dryer, and they are running perfectly. He even followed up the next day to make sure everything was working smoothly. Sorry it took me so long to write this review—but the service was absolutely worth it.

His communication was excellent—he gave a 40-minute heads-up before arriving and provided clear, regular text updates throughout the job since I wasn’t onsite. He quickly diagnosed an issue with the garbage disposal, clearly walked me through my options, and was very honest—after unjamming it, he did not push an unnecessary drain cleaning. He even sent a video confirming everything was fixed. Dion also investigated a suspected leak affecting the unit below, coordinated thoughtfully with all parties, and once he confirmed the issue was isolated to the lower unit, he promptly sourced materials and completed the repair. This company was great. My tech Patrick came in and knocked it out in less than 30 minutes. Professional, polite, and knowledgeable. It’s hard to find qualified, trustworthy, experienced people. I had a clog toilet for two days after searching for people to help everyone told me that my toilet may have to be removed. I went on the website to get another opinion because prices are to high. I called Catons plumbing and they sent someone out the same day. Demetric the service technician came within two hours of my phone call. He was very knowledgeable , respectful and able to fix the clog without having to remove the whole toilet. He accomplished the job in no time. I defiantly recommend this business….. exceptional job. We had an emergency pipe clog on Xmas night… total nightmare…. and Catons was the only company that was available (we called about 6 other places). They promised to be there within an hour and sure enough they were. Our plumber Henry Helwig provided amazing service as he methodically worked through the issue over about 3-4 hours. He was clear about the process, pivoted when necessary to be more efficient, and communicated everything well. He was also extremely clean and courteous while working in the house. I would definitely hire them again

They came on Thanksgiving day, and the value was better than I prepared myself for. They fixed my issue perfectly. Perfect plumbing service. Two highly skilled technicians cleverly and efficiently solved the problem in my restaurant. They were very dedicated and professional. Donzelle and his colleague arrived on time, they did the job efficiently and for their estimated price (I had sent photos of the problem). They were very nice, and cleaned up properly. They even took off their shoes without me having to ask! I will certainly call them again.

I am so incredibly happy that I found Smooth Plumbing! They are always able to schedule you without delay, and should you have any questions, their communication is quick - even at 9 PM. The technicians are highly trained, very knowledgeable, communicative and downright nice! The first job I booked, I was sent a bio for my technician, as well as a tracking map to know when he would arrive at my house. Pricing is fair and upfront and you are always given at least three options to choose from as far as the work that could/will be done and what it costs. I had two toilets replaced by Smooth recently, and thank goodness the technician was knowledgeable enough to know my issues were most likely stemming from high pressure in my home (THANKS TJ!). Being as it was time to replace my hot water heater, I did so today and also had a gauge installed that will even out high water pressure when it happens. Talk about fast, he did it all by himself within two hours. Thank you Smooth Plumbing, I have not felt lied to nor taken advantage of. As of this point, I do not believe I will go anywhere else when I need service!

After my initial contact, they got me scheduled very quickly. They completed the job in a good amount of time and it was very reasonably priced. They explained the work done and gave appropriate suggestions for possible future work with definite care and not pressure. They were professional, courteous, and very friendly. I attempted to DIY a faucet repair, and fell and broke the pipe under the sink. I called Star Plumbing after a quick Google search and he came out in a little over a hour. He fixed the pipe, fixed another issue I had that I was semi aware of, and replaced my faucet. He fixed it very quickly as well for a reasonable price. Highly recommended.
